My Quilt I've ever done is for Uganda and Yippie its done.

Rag quilt: 8 inch squares with a narrow border on the outside.
3 layers of cotton-Its actually quite heavy.I used fabrics I already had.

I never thought I would finish and end up with a usable quilt.

As I went along it never looked like a quilt till I was done. LOL
Its far from perfect. I used raggy scissors from fiskars and it
helped a lot with the snipping. I made X's on the back and middle
pieces. Embroidery designs are Free from Sewforum: the font on top spelling africa,
and some animals from emblibrary that are so dense.
I had 3 more blocks but my machine stopped working
so I'm without a machine for a while till its back from repairs.

What an adventure. Whew, now I need to concentrate on other projects.
I will be mailing it out soon.

PS It weighs about 2 pounds. 48"x63"

Wasn't it a fun experience?? I've enjoyed this journey. Mine is far from over because I want to do LOTS of quilts. I have two done and a third one cut out. I've been sitting with my mom in the hospital working on the hand parts of one quilt.
Now that you have made one and done a fantastic job, has the quilt bug bit? Will you make another?? :) I hope so. IT is definitely addictive!!

Yes it was fun too- especially to see results at the end. It was hard at first to think this little pile of squares would
make a blanket. Hope your mom recovers quickly. My next quilt projects will be doll quilts to learn pintucking and The little kimmie doll quilt. I hope to get better with practice.

It looks excellent and will be a favourite I'm sure. That weight is a bit under a Kilogram to those of us using metric, so it is quite heavy, too. Thanks for adding the weight.

Your welcome- I remember you asked. It does feel rather substantial being only cotton- it must be the quilting. Thank You.
