What I've learned today.

1. That if a machine needle hits a finger, it breaks, (The needle not the finger, and leaks. (The finger not the needle)
2. Not to trust memory sticks. One of mine suddenly stopped working today.
3. It is time to stop now before anything else happens.

oh dear, hope the rest of the day will go easier. Good recovery of the finger, about the memory stick, at had the same last time, my machine did not open the files anymore, but I was still able to open them on the PC so I saved them again. Perhaps your designs can dbe opened the same.so all I can do now is give you a big hug:

your memory stick... so do you use the safely remove way or do you just take it out....they can sometimes be damaged if taken straight out and if you have info on them you need sometimes your computer tech can retreive it we had a run of damaged menory sticks at work last week some we saved and some we buried.....good luck with it....soozie

I always do safely remove so I still don't know what happened. Luckily the designs are mostly still on my PC so it isn't a disaster - just a nuisance.

Ouch and Ouch! SO sorry to hear you had a hurtful day! Hope both your finger and your thumb-drive feel better soon! Funny that a flash-drive/memory stick is also called a "thumb drive" Why not a finger drive;>)

Everything is telling you to take a break. Go and enjoy other things. Your finger needs something cold. Your memory stick after a clean up with a small brush will hopefully work again. Maybe your next puppet could be a nurse. LOL
Hope you feel better soon

You poor thing - I've never done that, but I can imagine what it must be like. Good luck with the memory stick - it may have had a little hissy fit itself and will be better tomorrow. The sun will come out tomorrow! etc. etc. etc. Love Chris

I do know how that feels! The first time I did that I just happened to be using a big commercial machine and I made several stitches before I could stop it. My finger did not hurt then but ooohhh did it hurt the next couple of days. I soaked it in very warm salty water the 1st day and then used alcohol and peroxide for several days. The 1st stitch went through my thumbnail. Everyone thought I needed to go to the Dr. but that is not my favorite thing to do so I doctored it myself and all of a sudden the pain ceased but I did not forget to be very careful and pay attention when using one of the commercial machines!

That sounds horrific and made my stomach turn. (I have a very strong stomach as well!) My injury was very small in comparison.

Well, Sue... Friday the 13th was last month. Are you trying to make up for lost time? LOL! Good heavens, how in the world did you manage to get your finger in the way? OUCH!!! Sends shivers up my spine just thinking about it. Sorry you're having a bad, though.

I was adjusting the additional layer of fabric on a puppet. I should really learn from this but I will probably do exactly the same again before long.

and sometimes leaks on your project! I thought I could reach in quickly and grab a thread tail while the machine was running--took me two times running a needle in my finger to learn not to do that. Makes for a very sore spot.

Sorry for your day. When that happens it is best to quit while you are ahead.
Do hope you have not lost all your data. I always try to keep mine in a couple of places, one of the invariably ends up being cyberspace. LOL
Have a good weekend.
God bless

My son put me on to a tool called dropbox, where you can store your designs in the cloud. You get access from any computer. Details are at www.dropbox.com. My whole family use it now and it is so easy to store and transfer files.

Memory sticks can be fixed. Use it for something else for a while, clean it and reload designs. It works for me. For the needle and the finger no comments LOL. Hugs Marie

Ouch, ouch, ouch! Must hurt a lot. And if your finger starts throbbing, hurt to much. So the best thing is to rest for today and seat to watch TV.

by susiesembroidery 10 Feb 2012

Oh, shame!! Poor you. I hope your finger feels better after a hot cup of coffee.(or tea). Hopefully your stick will be usable again. Try it again later. Put it in your computer and check if it is active, better than risk your embroidery machine. Lovies and all the best.

Goodness! I think it IS time to have a cup of tea! Hope your finger is ok & quits throbbing! Scares me about the memory sticks! What to do..I lost designs I had on a CD just out of the blue; now you lose them on a flashdrive! I do have an external drive with them on it, but don't trust those either!!

Oh NO!! I hate when that happens! I hope the finger didn't leak on a dolly! Ouchie! Better stop before the third bad thing happens. Ben says, "It's okay, Sue," There, there."

Oh, I think that we have all been there. I have had the needle experiences, and one quite bad...the memory stick, or jump drive - my DH has always told me to no store anything on one of them. Only use it for my machines - they can only be changed so many time...and they even do break. He had one come apart in his hand the other day, and he asked where the super glue was - he wanted to retrieve the pictures he had moved to it. The glue worked, and so is the jump drive...But, good luck with everything else. You hand enough going on.
