Wow, sure wish I could get some cheap fabric, quess I need to wait until I go to the US sometime... Here in our area, we don't have any fabric stores, except one in Switzerland, about a 30 minutes drive. The prices starts at around $18.00 a meter and up (the real nice ones start around $25.00). Haven't bought any for a long time. A friend did sent me a lot of fat quaters recently, so now I can finally do some projects that have been pushed off to the side for a few years! It really pays off to look around for good deals. I was able to get quite a lot the last time I was in Michigan.

I live in Southnern California and the only local shop is Joanns for fabric and not that great a selection, Beverlys is mostly quilting but pricey
and even Walmart is pricey now. I used to get fabric
for $2/yd at walmart. Today it was $2.97 for Palencia (cheap cotton/Poly), $4.97 and up for cotton prints. Joanns, you have to buy on sale its
hard to use the 40% coupons because usually the cottons are on sale 30% off-so like $3.50 and up on sale. Cotton has gone thru the roof. Preety designer
fabrics are usually at least $10/yd so I can see
your point.

I did order some flannel on sale online with free shipping by the bolt at $2.50 0n sale at Joanns but selection was limited due to me getting to late to the sale. I try to order online and get free
shipping along with discounts but its hard
to coordinate colors that way.

WOW! THAT'S HIGHWAY ROBBERY. I'M LIKE THE OTHER CUTIES AND GO THE THRIFTY WAY. WHEN I LIVED CLOSE TO MIAMI, FLORIDA THERE WERE SO MANY CLOTHING MANUFACTURERS THAT I GOT REALLY SPOILED. YOU COULD FIND DESIGNER BOLTS OF FABRIC FROM THESE CLOTHING SHOPS FOR CHEAP. I'VE EVEN FOUND AMAZING BUTTONS ON CLOTHING FROM THRIFT TYPE STORES. YOU MUST HAVE BOUGHT BEAUTIFUL FABRICS AND HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO SHARE YOUR PROJECT.

Holy cow-that's some expensive material for a quick easy cheap project! So, if you are in a one horse town must be you have a home now???? I was actually pretty surprised when I went with my daughter to a yarn/quilt shop yesterday in one of those small 40 miles away from the nearest grocery store or shopping plaza-great selection of all kinds of yarns(not just cheap red heart)-tons of quilt fabric-none of which I use-CHEAPER then a big fabric store

That is a lot for 3 table runners. Did you perhaps purchase drapery fabric for them? That's the only thing I can think of that would cost that much. Some of the drapery fabrics are so beautiful for items for the home. They are hard to resist.

I AGREE WITH CAROLYN AND BEV - I THINK I'D CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL OP SHOPS ETC. IN THE AREA. EVEN BUY OLD DRESSES, SHIRTS ETC. AND CUT THEM UP - IT WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN PAYING THOSE PRICES. YOU ONLY NEED A PIECE 18 INCHES WIDE AND A 12 INCH WIDE PIECE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FINAL PRODUCTS LUCY, I'M SURE THEY WILL BE BEAUTIFUL. LOVE AND BLESSINGS CHRIS

WOW LUCY, HOW MUCH DO THEY CHARGE FOR A YARD OF MATERIAL? DO YOU HAVE A THRIFT STORE YOU CAN CHECK FOR FABRIC. I WOULD FIND A CHEAPER SOURCE. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR RUNNERS IN PROJECTS.
