Well - and maybe I can think of something to do with the shopping bag full of ties that my daughter picked up at the thrift store for me. I started tearing them apart, for I say Nancy Zieman do a purse with the ties, and used the material from the tie as the bias binding. LOL But, too much work to take them all apart.
Had to share a photo of the tie purse that I made a few years ago. I read a tutorial on how to do it but then I made my own pattern. The gusset and handle takes 4 ties. On the front and back I used both ends of the tie by alternating them. I have used this purse very much.
I used a total of 10 ties, all purchased at a thrift store for 50 cents apiece.
Those are to cute. Years ago my daughter read a book and the girl in book made a skirt out of neckties. She always wanted me to try that. I like your pins much better.
Love your pins. Will be making some of these to go with my necktie purses.
Here is a site with a tutorial. Scroll down the page.

That's it! That's where I saw it. Tks for posting & giving them the credit!! I did use vintage buttons for the centers instead of the covered buttons as I didn't have any covered buttons large enough.
Your pins are very pretty and really unique. I've never seen anything like them before. I just goggled pins made from men's ties and I found a bunch of sites that have all sorts of things that you could do with with ties. A couple of them even show how to make the pins. Linda
Excellent. I wish I'd seen this just after I made a dress skirt out of the opposite ends of about 30 ties. I threw the narrow ends away! Tragic.
I rarely throw anything away..that's not to say I know WHERE it is, however!! :-)
You are not alone - I am always hunting for things that I KNOW I have put somewhere ??
Your giving me ideas as we found two hangers full of ties when we moved. Thought of the wide end making a coin purse and have seen a skirt, pillow, and quilt out of them. Also, saw a piece of tie wrapped around a hard boiled egg and dipped in maybe vinegar and if all silk it left a neat pattern on the egg.
very pretty and unique creation that puts ties to good use.....good job Gerry.....from your fellow TN cutie....
Now thats an idea there are many ties at the Sally Anne for 10 cents love it hugs carolyn
I make small purses out of them....send me PM with your email and I will send you directions....
