I think we all agree we love our fabric. I was going through my stash and it made me think of this question. What is the largest piece of fabric you own? Do you buy it by the bolt? I have 22 yards of muslin I got on sale long ago and another piece of pink flowery denim that was 18 yards long, i have since used some for tote bags. I also have a huge chunk of green and gold upholstery fabric. Oh yeah, the red and green 7 yards I got at Ikea last year. What is your biggest haul?

hrm, my biggest pieces would be about 30m of upholstery fabric, around 20m of purple fabric (forget what it was called) .. both bought from Spotlight when they have their $1 per metre sale, and because we can't get birdseye here (for nappy making) I buy that in bulk from the USA so 20m at a time. :)

Living a 3hr drive from big fabric shops is also incentive to buy longer lengths of fabric at a time ;) xXx

My biggest haul was an ad I answered on Craig's List. A woman was closing her jacket making shop, moving to another state and needed to get rid of some cotton knit (heavy t-shirt, or even sweatshirt weight) along with lots of other things. Desperation drives down the prices, when they have to have it gone yesterday. I left with three giant pickup loads of forkliftable size rolls, and a car packed to the top with other odds and ends. I use the knit as quilt batting. I probably have close to a thousand yards in four colors. I paid less than $100 for the entire haul. Each roll is so huge that it takes two or three people to even move it. I'll never have to buy quilt batting again either!!

I think you win. Where in the world do you store something that big?

It was your lucky day. I haven't come across a great deal in awhile so maybe soon. It's out there with my name on it. lol

I went from a jammed four bedroom house to an empty nest in just under a year. Now it echoes in here, so I have to fill it with something!!

I'm still working my way through a 50m roll of calico I bought more than 10yrs ago when I was making yoga bolsters. The guy sold his business & the new owner didn't need any more ,so I was left with a lot of fabric. The calico is slowly being used to make cushion inserts .Got a feeling that I might have too replace the underneath of the lounge because Cherrie has been doing sneaky chews under the chairs while we've been watching tv.

That is a lot of calico. Is it an appealing color? I wonder because you are making something that gets covered up. :)

Lengths, apologies. I did give away 10 yards of some weird orangy stuff last year that I had been given and sewn some

I love weird and orangy. It discharges and dyes to some really awesome creations. :)

That's about what I have. But ribbon and lace? Yards and yards and yards of the strangest colors that I must have been out of my mind to buy. I think I've had 30 yards of green panty elastic that I've had for 15 years!

I have lots of it but the most is about 8 yards of a lovely peach. My intention was new curtains. So far it has not happened. When one of the outlets closed about 2 years ago, I purchased lots of it at $1. $2 and $3. per yard, I usually bought about 4 yards at a time. So I have lots to work with. Hugs, Mary

WOW, I have never bought that much of anything before, the most I have bought is once I bought the bolt of some monkey fabric for the back of a quilt which in the end didn't work, but I will use it shortly

If the price is right I'll go for it. I'll bet Carolyn/Noah has us all beat. She buys in bulk. lol

I have got 12 yards of white satin and 30 yards of 70 inch white poly lace! I could do a wedding dress +. I also have 12 or so yards of gorgeous peach damask to reupholster I hope a chaise lounge. I have a bolt of purple vinyl and more ... I am a dreamer! I have buckets of fabric, because I purchased a woman's sewing room from her widow. I have got more cross stitch kits and patterns than I know what to do with. I used all but 5 yards of my muslin and am waiting for a coupon to get another 22 yard bolt.
