Sewing out an FSL doily. One of the six sections is 28,000 stitches. How many yards of thread will it take to complete the other five sections. The thread is also being used as the bobbin thread. My thread is 40wt Mettler cotton, 500 yards per spool. Any one have any idea how we know how to figure this out? Shirlene you may know the answer!!

I wonder if you could sew them together in a contrasting color. Most likely the different dye lot would not be noticeable as long as there is a brake in color. Angie

Guessing how much thread I need:

1 King Cone= 11,000 yds/10,058m*=1,999,998 stitches**

1 King Cone=10,000 yds/9,150m = 1,818,180 stitches
1 King Spool=5,500 yds/5,000m = 1,000,000 stitches
1 King Spool=3,250 yds/2,972m = 590,908 stitches
1 King Spool=3,000 yds/2,740m = 545,454 stitches
1 King Spool=2,500 yds/2,285m = 454,545 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool= 1,100 yds/1,000m = 200,000 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool= 1,000 yds/909m = 181,818 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool= 700 yds/694m = 127,272 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool= 500 yds/455m = 90,909 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool= 400 yds/364m = 72,727 stitches
1 Spool = 330 yds/300m = 60,000 stitches
1 Spool = 250 yds/227m = 45,455 stitches
1 Spool = 200 yds/182m = 36,363 stitches
1 Spool = 100 yds/91m = 18,182 stitches

*Based on .909m per 1yd
**Based on 181.818 stitches per yd

Shirlene, you are an angel, now what do I do? I only have half enough thread. Do you think the dye lots on thread are consistant? Or do I drop this in the garbage and start with a new color?

No dropping! All pieces can be utilized on something! We can have a UFO Swap!

If you have already made one half, can you do the other sections in a different colour? Slightly lighter or darker, or even a complete contrast?
