Sometimes that all there is to do vent vent and then vent some more lol. I find it always helps
I love Cuties and have always been very happy here. Sorry that you are so frustrated with the changes but lets hope Miss Veronika can retrieve them and in the meantime, we have a wonderful site full of family and friends all around the world. For that I thank miss Veronika. *****
Its happened to me too. So now I fugure a longish post so as not to lose it, after I'm done writting
before submitting it then I copy the text (Hilite the text and hit CTRL C, then if I need to I can repost CTRL V in a post below it from where it cut off. Saves a lot of aggravation.
Hugs
Linda aka Bumblebee
I do this also with with a reply cause I hate it when I get this red error-page-thing and can start writing my answer again :o(
I sometimes have made a comment and when I look later it just has gone totally. funny things happening lol. But all in all glad we have each other for help. Hugs edith
Like Martine, I have got into the habit of copying my answer before I click submit so I can paste again if necessary. Also, Iuse the answer method if I want to write a lot. At least now, if you only post as a comment it shows up in the Private tab which it never did on the old system. This is a huge improvement. On that subject - it still bugs me that many people don't notice the bright orange number on the tab! I still have several unanswered messages, as have many other people.
And don't get me started on wasting forum space with messages to tell someone they have a PM - reminds me that I used to have to telephone my sister to tell her I'd sent her an email!!!
there are a few who for some reason do not check the pm tab so they need a gentle reminder.
I know this is only a bandaid, but if you write a comment that is longer than the space allows, just hit the back arrow and copy/paste your comment in to either sections or a whole answer instead of comment. I'm wondering if bandwidth is an issue, which has led to the shortening of posts. Since the owner/operator of this site does not choose to share with the rest, then we can only guess.
Seems like everyone was unhappy with the site before because it was too slow. Now it has been upgraded, and speed changed for some other features. I guess that is what you call progress. Personally I don't care for progress, because it always has a tendency of taking away the parts I really like. But I still enjoy visiting here. It is my happy place on the web!!
I copy my comments before I submit them ( at least them i remember). If they are cut off I paste them, delete the first part and submit the remainder.
If you know you won't be able to give a short comment, post it as an answer, these can be as long as you want!
This is what I do too; I use Microsoft word copy then paste. This really helps me. DeVon
It's just sad that this also happens to all the old posts: They are cutted and the rest of the answers are lost. Same to the links (the nice trick with the html did not work if the link is cut off).
It is difficult to be patient, especially when one does not know what is happening. I just wish Ms Veronika would write to us and tell us what is happening. I am sure we would then be much more sympathetic. Sarah.
Hope that after venting, you are feeling better and a bit more relaxed. I am just grateful to have found this forum that gives me so much and has received no benefits from me. I have never paid a cent to be here and yet enjoy the company and the friendship of all the other cuties, get a lot of information, download a gazillion of free fantastic embroidery, upload the photos of my projects and get help when I need it. I love this website and if the database does not do everything we wish to have, so what? I enjoy every minute here. A big thank you and hugs to Ms Veronika and all the Cuties!
i second your comments, there is no charge for to us for useing this wonderfull website and we realy cannot or should not complain if things are not to our likeing
Yeah - everything is different. It would be great if we could add some decorum. For this particular idiosynchracy, I hightlight and control C (copy) to ensure I have it all in case I need to put some in the first comment. I also use a word document if I need the extra room or am keeping track of hyperlinks. I understand your frustration, mine lies in other issues not related to the mechanics of the site.
I truly believe that during the transfer to the new server, Miss V may have LOST all those features and does not know how to retrieve them.
NOW, I could be wrong about this.
But if this IS what happened then it means rewriting all the code and finding all the information (posts) that was lost.
This would be a mammoth task for a single person and though I also get up in arms over all we have lost, I guess the bottom line is that we really have no choice in how the site works and the features that are made available to us.
Just as we had no say in losing the six free daily designs that were given from every section of Cute and now there is only one daily free gift.
Sad but what is the answer?
I still prefer to be here at Cute than any other site on the Web, this is where my family lives and this is what makes us all keep coming back to Cute.
Hugs and much love Jo, Meganne
AWWW Thanks Meg ... For giving me prospective ....I am still flustered .. I just feel the least she could do is inform us ... OH WELL .. whom am I ??? Hope you are healing well ... I will continue to ask the Great Spirit to keep you in His healing hands ... Jo
hahahahaha! I learnt my lesson the hard way too, now I copy ALL posts before I hit submit, cause sure as I forget, you can bet I will lose the lot. Hugs n roses, Meg
Meg I agree with you 150% ;o)
I am so frustrated and feel helpless at the same time cause we get no information (there were even no indication for the changes). I made an extra folder for bookmarks to my posts and projects to find them again :o(
Not fun cruising here anylonger...
funny cruising here anylonger...
Being patient is not my best talent and after nearly 6month it is used up.
Greetings, Bettina
I can understand how frustrating it can be, especially for very active users, but it is still free for us to join this great forum which provides so much for us. I think it's fair enough that Veronika needs to put her business interests first and keep updating the designs etc that are hopefully bringing her in some income to be able to keep providing for us all :) I know you realise how lucky we all are being able to be here at all. Hope you feel a little better for having voiced your thoughts :) Maybe some sewing or shopping therapy now -whichever works best :)
