I think the pokies would come through even using a topping. After pulling the topping off the pokies will pull through with the topping is what I mean. Still might be a pretty effect if the color of thread were strong enough..

Where I have trouble on terry towels Kay, is with the smaller lettering stitching nicely........

What if you use tulle under the water soluble? It will tear away, or you might want to try trimming it close. Use the same color as the towel and it will blend right in.

I used angelina fibers under my rose design on a birthday card and it was beautiful, so mylar would work too...good idea on a towel to help hide the pokies..
