It must be very hard to see her like this. But am glad things are going a bit better.
Oh my Teri, it sounds as if Esther is getting along much better, except for the falls, and the feistyness, I just bet your were shocked to the core with that punch, huh? That dementiak is a hard thing to deal with, I know my Mother is in and out of it all the time. But on the most part out. I guess the best thing to do is not say anything else that might confuse them. How long is she in this facility? I am glad that your mom stepped in and it is sad that they don't just do what is right. Keep the news coming - you and Esther are in my daily prayers. *4U
Good to hear that Queen Esther is doing better. My prayers will continue for you both. *4U
So glad your Gmother is better physically, having been a DON 4 a LTC facility, I told U n one of my other comments that facility should b reported. there r right ways to do things, & your Gmother has the right to receive competent care. Stay on top of them & yes threaten them with state. Somewhere n that facility there should be posted 4 all who want to know what the state found wrong when they had their last survey, look at it, & see if they deficiencies given by state, their should b an ombudsman posted also, she is the patients advocate u can tell her your complaints also. *4U. I sure would like to pay that facility a visit.
Glad that she is recovering physically. Hopefully, when all settles down, she will be less confused.
Oh well Teri, that is good news, hope she will recover more soon and can be at home with some help. Enjoy your visits to her **********
Hey, Teri, glad to hear the good news! But if you'd quit wearing grama's drawers, she probably wouldn't sock you, hee hee hee. Sorry, couldn't resist, I deliberately misread your wording of that, it makes me happy to know she's at least feisty instead of depressed and uncaring of what happens. As for what year it is, my dear, I dated a check 1964 the other day. At least I knew it was quite wrong, but I was on auto-pilot, and I guess it must have been a good year, hee hee hee. The 60's were entirely too good to me, I guess, SanFrancisco with flowers in my hair, ah, well... I'm glad the facility woke up & decided to do its job. Too bad it took threats to get it done, that really angers me. Anyway, tell her hi from us, my dear one, and go enjoy her as much as you can. Maybe you ought to wear your flak jacket, though. How hard can Esther punch? Some of these elders can be stronger than they look, so be careful!! Love you, Teri. Marji
Thanks Teri for the report, glad things are looking up for you and will continue to keep you in my prayers *'s
-more- …she does keep falling, but she at least is up and walking around. Mentally however, she’s all over the map! It's 1990, 1950, 2008...who knows! But moving a dementia patient from their home, to a hospital, then to rehab… confuses the daylights out of them. She is also being very feisty! She got angry with me when I put her ‘unmentionables’ on and even socked me in the stomach. The difference between this adult “2-year-old” is that you can’t correct them like a child… Anyway, I’ll be seeing her later today. It sure feels wonderful to report good news for a change!!!! Oh, and yes, the facility is on board with her care. My Mother and her husband went to the top twice and basically instructed them on what needs to be done or they were going to the State. Funny how a couple of threats makes people stand up straight… Sad it had to come to that. Gosh, don’t you love dealing with facilities and HMOs. Good grief!!!!! LOL xoxo
You are in my thoughts. I'm sure she will feel in her heart all the caring gestures and love you give her. Keep smiling! *4U
