Wishing you Better Sales next time.
Maybe slow, because we are going careful because of holiday expeditures
So sorry that you did not have better luck. I am sure it must have something to do with the fact that people are going through hard times. Perhaps better to try and sell nearer Christmas. It is a shame that you put so much hard work into it all. Sarah.
Sorry your work was not rewarded as it should have been. I haven't heard of many sucess stories at craft shows lately..esp in the USA. I have some things in a cosignment shop & some days it's good, but mostly again just lookers. I agree with the others..I'd rather give it away to people I know! Hopefully in the fall folks will be looking for Christmas gifts!!
You are right...but in the end I made a couple new friends...so my day was not a total loss and a friend came up to sit with me, so the day was not a total loss.
When money is tight, people go to craft fairs to get ideas, that's all. I've found that no one is willing to pay the price for some of our work. By the time you buy the thread, stabilizer, designs, space at a show and time to create the merchandise, and prepare to sell it, there is no profit in it. Gave it up! Would rather give it away to people I enjoy rather than just those looking for something for free or close to it.
Ya most of the things you don't make a profit on...I just like to keep my hobby going...pay for what I used and if I make a little more then I but material, thread, or whatever with it.
sorry about the craft show. I have never done well at one, but have only contributed once or twice. I do like to go to craft shows, but that is to see what is new and being done. Better luck with the fall craft show.
Yes I knew that is what most do... that is why I try to make things that they don't or can't make themself.
Oh Joann that is such a shame, I know how hard that you worked, I am sorry. Here's hoping that the Fall show will be a sellout! Hugs Loralye PS I love the Pin Cushion! (everything was great I need a new hat, I wish I was closer I would have been there)
Thank you I did work hard but that is what I do...I always said if it is worth doing then it is worth doing it right. I am so happy that you finished your pin cushion (it is adorable).
Hugs Joann
Bumski, times are tough for sure for many.
I won't worry about it...I had a lovely time talking to people and I love what I do.
That's a shame. I thought your bucket hats were adorable. But there are so many looky loos out there. Maybe next time. Hugs..Carol
A ton liked them but people seem to think something home made shoud be sold cheaper. Sometime people even say that.
Oh so sorry to hear you did not do well at the craft sale better luck next time dont give up hope.
Hugs Brenda
I hear baby bibs go well! I have some apparel to decorate. A few Cuties had successfel shows. I think we have a new question. What sells where? Thanks for sharing! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I have those also...I have not had luck here with bibs...sold 2 in Nov and 1 at this craft show.
So sorry to hear that Joann! Unfortunately I think you're right about the sign of the times. And that crafters are looking for ideas is probably true too. I have had people tell me many times I should do a table at a craft show. I just don't think I would do very well in this economy, so I don't do it. The negative side is never ventured never.... Oh darn now what was that saying??
I wish you loads of luck and success on your next if you do another.
Diane
I probably won't do to many but if I do I will just enjoy being there and talking to people...lol My John said that I never met a stranger...I will start talking to them as if we were old friends.
I only do 3 craft show a year one in Sept, one in Oct and one in Dec. The reason I am always knitting is because that is what really sells for me. I do sell quite a few embroidered sweatshirts in Dec, but the knitwear far exceeds everthing...go figure???? Your crafts were exceptional, Joann, it is their loss!!
I only do the 2 shows Nov. and Feb. Last year a lady made chair cushions and sold them for 24.00 and sold out. It is just what the popular thing is this year. This Nov it was doll cloths for an 18 inch doll...my friend sold out of them plus she took orders.
You are so right, Joann, it is just what is it the customers are looking for? There seems to be a trend from time to time and it is so hard to gauge...It is a shame, but embroidery work is really hard to push around this area....
Sorry to hear that today was not too good but hope the next time will be better
Joann, Sorry to hear of your experience. The same thing happened to me last year at a fall craft show. I sold very little tho I did make enough to pay my expense for the show. I am now sure I will not do that particular show again but I have a few other ones in mind. I hope the next one goes well for you. Hugs, Mary
Thank you...I didn't lose money ... the table was free and I watched people they were only buying things that were about $3.00 and under. The lady next to me sold necklaces for 2.00 and she sold them out...I was happy for her.
Joann, so sorry it didn't go better for you - the hard part about a craft fair is the crafters go to them and they are just LQQKing for idea's. Good luck with the fall show.
I agree. I don't take things to craft shows. People always tell me I should, but I don't like working for free so I try to save myself the aggrevation. I live in a rural area, maybe if you lived in a city where people don't craft and are happy to pay you to....???
I don't think I will take any item big to a craft show again...I will just make the ornaments or whatever that is small. I don't mind them saying they will make them but they are the same one's who say they can't sew....go figure.
