Well, I am so disappointed! After Christmas I bought 19 small spools of Metro thread. With everything that has been going on...I haven't tried it until today...I started with the Metro and it shredded after a few seconds, switched to my other thread and it sewed about half of the test design just fine...switched to another color of Metro and it shredded in less than a minute. I'm sure glad I didn't buy a lot. I'm out about $20 with shipping.

You can put a coffee cup behind your machine and put the spool in it then thread as usual, since you don't have a thread stand. Also have you tried top stitch needles? They have a bigger eye, I use them all the time with my fussy Brother machine. hth :) xXx

I had never heard of Top Stitch. I'll have to check them out.... Thanks

I have not problems. On one occasion they did not get two cones of thread, I sent an e-mail, they cordially responded and sent me the missing.

And in the box have been the packing list with the invoice #, order #, date and method of payment. Make reference to that information if you want to make any claim.

My husband accidently threw all the info out...He didn't know I left it in the box.

jofrog2000 by jofrog2000 29 Feb 2012

You should have gotten an email with all that information. I bought quite a few small cones, some large, and bobbins. Only 1 small-gold-gave me trouble, and I have not had the time to play with other needle and tension settings to see if that would help.

Have you tried to put the thread cone on a separate thread stand behind your machine?
Perhapos it is the way the thread comes off the cone when on your machine.

I don't have a thread stand... I thought about the thread coming off.
The thread seems much thinner than my other thread???

Have you tried a different TYPE or size of needle. Can you slow the speed down? These two things helped me when I had shredding. I have a Baby Lock Ellageo and I have had some thread problems at times myself.

I can slow the machine down...haven't tried that. Different size needle doesn't help.
Thanks - I'll try slowing the machine.

After all the comments on here about the metro thread I bought the 166 spools and am having no problems with it. I also have from threadart and some cheap metallic (no name brand I got on sale), and they work OK in my machine. I have a Janome MC11000SE.

I use Metro thread and have good luck with it in my Brother except for the last spool of red I bought. It comes apart sometimes. Someone once told me thread gets old, so I just atribute it to that.

Could it be possible that the spools I got were all old? At any rate, I doubt I will try them again.
My tech told me that the reason so many cannot use the Sulky sold in JoAnn Fab. is because it is already really old by the time JoAnn's get it. I tried the fridge and freezer thing....still doesn't work! Long sigh - ***** rolling eyes****!

Thanks ladies. To answer some questions, I replaced the needle..tried different spools, pulled some off and rethreaded, everything I know to do...it still shreds, and leaves little tiny knots in the design. I cannot use Sulky or any kind of rayon. This is poly (Metro does not have rayon) Isacord and Florini (sp?)are the only threads I've been able to use. (I've never had a bad spool or had to pull some off with either of those) I did notify the company but didn't keep the order #.and.. haven't heard back from them. I don't expect to. Thankful I didn't order more!

Did you pay with PayPal? go back and look at your transactions, you should be able to get your details that way.

mjdg by mjdg 29 Feb 2012

I don't have PayPal. Don't want anymore cards, sites, etc. to keep up with.

Thanks

jofrog2000 by jofrog2000 29 Feb 2012

If there are so many different threads that give you issues, I'd dare to say it's something with the machine that is the problem.

by quilter124 29 Feb 2012

I have used Metro thread for the past year along with Thread Art....have a Janome 11000SE and it does great.....every once in a while you will have a flaw in a section of the thread...maybe where it was connected with other strands, but I pull out about 18 inches of the thread and re-thread and away it goes....it may not be all your spools either, so try them all out.....but CHANGE YOUR NEEDLE....I think this is your problem.....

I have no problems with Metro threads in either of my Brothers. If thread starts to shred it generally tells me it needs a new needle and then things go much better.

put them in the freezer for an hour it revitalises them worth a try

Maybe your machine did not like this brand. My janome did not like Fufu-thread and my brother never has a problem with it. The other way around the brother shreds my Madeira metallic thread and the janome stitches it without special needle oder anything else and never made trouble.
Sometimes they really behave like children with their likes and dislikes for their "food" ;o)

PS: What a luck that Jan/ hightechgrammy has such a need for Metro *lol*

I certainly agree with Bettina on this. My machine certainly likes some threads better than others. Our machines all seem to have their own personalities.

I have no problems with Metro thread...for some strange reason, some machines just don't like a particular thread. Mine won't sew with Sulky...?

I received Metro thread for birthday in Sept.. Love it but, the black spool is bad. Noticed when embroidering daughters name on something. Came out bad and thread looked bad. So I'm sorry that this happened to you.

Is the thread poly or rayon? I can slow my machine speed down when using rayon which helps.

I've only used metro thread in my Janome300 and my futura before that. Some designs it shreds on but most of them it does not. Try it on a different design and see. Some machines are fussy about what threads they like. I just received an order from them yesterday and look forward to using it. Good Luck!

I use metro threads; even ordered some more after Christmas. I have never had any trouble with any of it at all in my Brother 7800D. I ordered $150 worth of thread from another place; never got the thread or money back no matter how many times I have called them. Don't know if it is ok to metion their name so others won't get took like I did or I would share who they are.

I think you can give their name. If you tried to contact them many times they had their chance to make you a happy customer. Better be warned than loosing money.

What is the name of the company that did not send your thread? Marcelle

I can always use it to make tassels but who would ever want that many tassels? LOL

I have similar problems with Q&A threads. I've found it is ok for small areas of fill stitches and when machine is running at slowest speed but will shred with running or satin stitches or at faster speeds. xx

Don't give up yet. Sometimes my Metro will shred a bit. I just pull off a bunch of it, rethread, and restart as if I have a new thread. This usually works for me.

I've had no poblems at all with my Metro threads - I bought the 66 basic colour set in 2010. They produce beautiful stitch-outs for me.
