What great news... I will pray that Bia will be a member of your family for many many years. The best dog I ever had was a black Lab. They are a wonderful breed. Hugs and *'s, Deb PS; 2 of the 3 cats we had at the time adored the dog the 3rd had to swipe at him every chance she got. And the dog would look at her as if saying "what did I do?" LOL
All is going great so far! There is NOthing like the Lab personality! We are going to begin training today so she can become Ben's service dog. She slept with him!! She really doesn't care to obey yet - he he. But she is kind and gentle, and seems to have that special intuition.
have that special intuition. The parrots don't know if they are supposed to bark or meow at her. She's still afraid to walk past the cats :-) She has those lab eyes - you know what I mean, I'm sure!
What a wonderful blessing Bia is to Ben and your family. Kittys will grow to love her, but will always be bossy!! Have a wonderful day filled with laughter and happiness.***
Jan, I had a yellow lab many years ago, when my girls were small. He was so smart, protective, and
loving. Willie will fall in love with Bia quickly!
Ben will have a great playmate in Bia! So glad Willie came around with his thinking!! LOL
Hugs,
Angel
Truly a blessing from God and more proof that prayers are answered in due course.
I will now prayer that the trial becomes permanent and Ben and Bia have a lifelong partnership.
Hugs and blessings, Meganne
That's great.I have 3 cats and introduced my dog a year ago. The cats are definitely the boss. No doubt that will happen in your situation as well. Animals are great at establishing relationships.
I am sure that Bia will be so good for Ben. We had a black lab many years ago, what a wonderful dog she was. Your other animals will soon get used to her I am sure. Hugs Sarah.
Well it sounds to me like Bia is a patient & gentle animal! His Concern is not for the birds or the kitties! & if it shows this early then you know that you have a real winner! CONGRATULATIONS!
We've been looking for a new service dog for Ben since his service dog, Bates, passed away 4 years ago. It took us three years to get past the grieving. I have been praying that the perfect dog would just land here and that Willie would agree, because he was really afraid the cats would be upset, and the dog would eat the parrots. So far, the birds have growled, and she is afraid of these tall broomtail cats. She really growled and barked at Willie when he came home....
Jan.....am so excited for you & Ben!! Kitties, not so much...LOL!! You know, Bia is leaving them alone, so they should not see Bia as a threat. They just need to be "tall" to let her know who is boss right now & it sounds like the parrots are doing a good job of it...too funny!! I love the animal kingdom!!! Many hugs my friend...this sounds like a match that was meant to be!! Vicki
I think it's a menagerie now. 1 dog, 2 parrots, 3 kitties... and a partridge in a pear tree. Actually wild birds in our aspen trees. He he. The parrots don't know whether to bark or meow at her. So far, so good - she's been here for 8 hours!
OH YES! Indeed He does! And better than we can ever imagine!
That's such wonderful news Jan - just what Ben needs. A dog's love is unconditional. I hope you can keep her. Love and blessings Chris
It sounds like they are already bonding. The sound of giggles is delightful.
You bet! That is wonderful, weren't you looking for a dog? Match made in heaven! Funny about the birds... Video would be fun!
Having had my own beautiful rescued black lab I can say he was a gift from heaven. He's back there now at the grand age of 14. May you have many wonderful years with Bia. Of course the kitties and parrots would like to make her disappear on the spot, but Bia will win their hearts...sooner or later. My kitties did grow to love my Bandit.
Well - he has found a special firend with Ben...Lab's are so smart and loving. My daughter does rescue labs, and she has a blonde, a chocolate, and was wanting to take in a black, but her school work has got in her way of puppy love. She had a lab for years that when she was sick would always come and sniff her head. When she was having breathing issues several years ago, Old Cocoa would not leave her alone, and just kept sniffing her head. It was not long after that she was dianosesd with lung cancer, and he was her constant companion when she was going though recuperation. Ben is a lucky boy to have a lab's love. But my daughter is now 10 years cancer free.
Oh that is a wonderful lab story. They are very perceptive, and I think Bia is going to be that way. So far, she seems to prefer me, but it has just been hours, and I keep telling her what a good girl she is. I'm so very happy for your daughter!!!
Oh what great news lets all keep our fingers crossed that the trial run becomes permanent. I am sure Ben is very happy with Bia
