The Brother Mall sells both Madeira and Robinson Anton thread for very good prices.
They sell both Poly and Rayon in either brand.
They sell both in small cones and large cones too.

I have used MANY of their products for years with never a problem, and they are very nice people to work with. I use only their stablizers....and mostly their thread.

Excellent question, Bev!

My all time favorite is no longer available. It was ARC thread from Melco until about 2 years ago. I really miss that thread. The thread was excellent and the colors were too.

Now I am getting thread from Madeira for my commercial machine because it won't run the Metro. Both my Brother machines run the Metro just fine.

Some of the Metro colors and even the white are a lot more shiny than any others. The Metro white makes beautiful white lace.

Two brands I know I can't use even on my 2 Brother machines are Sulky and PolyX. Both just shred.

I think each machine has it's little quirks even when it comes to thread. What stitches well on one machine doesn't always stitch well on another identical machine. I haven't ever figured that one out.

I am looking forward to reading what other 'Cuties' like best. I bet there will be a wide variety.

I've found quite a bit on ebay but these are companies I have never heard of . Just looking for the best deals.

Melco sells commercial Amaya machines and use to sell ARC brand thread too until about 2 years ago. They did a partnership with Madeira for thread, stabilizers, etc. I think when you purchase an Amaya now you probably get a supply of Madeira thread with it.

Madeira thread is very good but not the cheapest around. It sews very well at high speeds on commercial machines plus they have a lot of colors.

The only reason I haven't tried Robison Anton is that someone on the Amaya Users List said they did not like their red shades because they had an orange tint to some of them. I may try them sometime though myself to see how they are.

If you find ARC thread on Ebay even if it is inexpensive just keep in mind that it is at least 2 years old or older. I still have some that is even older than 2 years and it is fine but I keep it in a closed door closet away from sunlight and dust.

I have bought packs of thread also at Designsbysick. The quality of both are the same, Metro is really cheaper, each have some colours that are not by the other. I can even use threads of the 2 brand in the same design, to find the exact color that I want.
