Uganda quilt #5

I had some scraps left over from another quilt and my husband commented that they looked like bird feathers. So that is what they became. I embroidered a "feather toss" design in the background. The large feathers are from Sewforum.com and the small ones are from freebieLovers.com. The peacock is just my own personal skewed sense of humor. :) We love watching birds. This one is just the well fed variety. :)

Awesome use of these quilt pieces. The feathers are soothing and a favorite design. Used to go walking at a peacock nature trail at Rollins College area in Orlando and collected some feathers.

What an incredible bird this is! He is so colorful! The child who gets this one is going to love these feathers. Are those designs you stitched? Wow! Very pretty. How are your "mothers" in your life doing? Has life settled down for you, at least a little? Thank you so very, very much for all your hard work! God Bless YOU!
I've never done Dresden Plate - it looks fun!

The feathers are embroidery designs. ALL of the bird is just old fashioned applique without embroidery.
Mom is doing quite well. MIL is in hospice now with "days to weeks" expectation. But she is so very ready and prepared.

And here is a closer look at the bird itself. You might recognize it as the Dresden Plate blades. I didn't have enough to do a whole circle, so had to get a bit creative.

Your bird is lovely, nice use of your leftover Dresden plate.
