.jef format.
Comes with a 4x4 hoop which is actually about 4 3/8 and a 5x7 which is actually 5 1/2 x 8 - I find the slightly larger hoops really great.
Doesn't use a usb, but you can directly attach to the computer, or use a compact flash card with an ATA/PC adapter. It does prefer the smaller flash cards, either 8 or 16 mb. I always use the flash cards, I have a collection now with all my favourite designs on them :)
I took advantage of the launch the new Janome11000 to purchase a new but superceded 10001 and it is very good. I got the small, the 4x4, 5x7 giga hoop and a round spring hoop all of which got a fair bit of use till ill health put the brakes on a bit. Not sure of the price being a bargain?? Not really familiar with US pricing. It does not take a memory
stick uses ATA cards and discs & reads direct from PC to machine via elec.cord. Mine has been a wonderful workhorse. I can really recommend it. Hope this helps.
Personally, I don't think this is a great deal...and I'm not sure it will take a USB stick either...I would not purchase any machine that did not have USB connection. I think the format is .Jef I would keep looking if I were you.
Thats way I asked about the USB VS card, lol! And I don't know what this model costs.
I have the Janome 10000 and love it. It comes with two hoops 4X4 and 5X7. I also have the small hoop the hat hoop and the giga hoop. This takes a card and it is JEF format. I had mine upgraded to a 10001. I bought mine used on e-bay about 5 or 6 years ago. I am not sure whether $1500 is a good deal or not. 6 months ago I bought a brand new 350E Janome (embroidery only) for $1300.) If you have any more questions, hopefully I can answer them for you. Hugs, Mary
Thanks Mary, I'm glad your responded to my question. I was hoping it took a USB instead of the card. I was also thinking the price might be a bit high, for a used machine but am having a hard time finding a price for a new one to compare to. Tell me a little about the Jamone 350E.
Im pretty sure its only the 350E, 11000, and the new 12000 that take a USB,
I think the 10000 was released around 2000 so you would be very unlikely to find a 'new' one for sale anywhere. They have since upgraded to a 10001 (which I have and is great - only difference is cosmetic, and a small software upgrade), the 11000 a few years ago, and the 12000 which has just been released. So long as it is in good condition, and you have a good tech to keep it in order, it is a great machine, it embroiders beautifully.
11000 was released a few years ago and they have recently released the 12000. So long as it is in good condition and you have a good tech to keep it serviced it is a great machine. It certainly embroiders beautifully.
I have a Janome 9000 and it is very old. Mine uses sew format. As far as the hoop size I don't know but mine does the 4x4 but you probably can find out by going to janome.com.

You can buy a brand new Brothers 770 from Walmart or Sears on line for only $639.00. I bought one to do lace and small projects as I have a large 15 needle commercial. So far I really like it. It comes with a 5x7 hoop, and I ordered a 4x4. You can also buy a larger hoop, I think it's 5x11. I decided not to buy an old used machine, and went with the new. You can also use a USB stick on this machine. I thought the price was right for a extra machine.
I have the Brother 770 too. I love mine. I bought it new on E-bay for $450. Had to spend $60 more for 4 more hoops, cause it only comes with a 5 x 7, but it was still a deal I think. God luck, Susan
