Hi I played with Mylar yesterday and it looks so nice. I was wondering if there is any difference between sewing mylar and the mylar you buy for doing up baskets? It feels the same to me weight wise. Any suggestions? Can you put it in to washer and dryer? Thanks Suzanne

My proper Mylar embroidery on a T shirt washed off so be careful. If you use the flower paper stuff which comes free in bouquets then what have you to lose if it washes out you still have your embroidery design left.

I have not done any Mylar designs yet, because I am not so sure it will wash well. Thank you to the alswers to Suzanne's question. It cleared up some of mine too. Have a lovely day.***

I have not done any but everything I heard says you can use the wrapping paper stuff. Now is the time to look for it with Easter supplies!

I use the dollar store "wrapping paper" type mylar all the time in ME. Some of it says washable right on the wrapper. I always test on a corner by wetting my fingers and rubbing HARD! If it doesn't remove the color it will survive the washer. I have done kids clothes and DD says they wash fine. She does turn inside out on any embroidered item, and doesn't leave in dryer until crispy! I think a little care is required on any mylar item, and I wouldn't leave them in the dryer for a long time. I also don't iron on hot, press from the back and have never had an issue! I have rolls and rolls in lots of colors, and I keep a few things on display. People see them and eww and ahh and want some on their things! Great advertising for bling! Linda

THanks for the tip on wetting your finger and rubbing hard too. Sue

I thought there was a differance between the mylar for embroidery and the mylar for baskets. The clear embroidery mylar can be washed. I don't know about a dryer. The coloured mylar can give problems if you wash it. Enjoy playing. Hugs, gerry

I haven't done any washing or using the dryer with mine I don't think it would be a good idea, if it survived the washer it would probably melt in the dryer. I only know the one product &I have used it for both
