When you say your files corrupted are you talking about your embroidery files?
How are you trying to open and view them that they show up as corrupted? With Sew What Pro?
Make sure you have the right version of Sew what Pro on your Windows 7 computer. 32 bit or 64 bit.
Are the files unzipped before trying to view them?

This is one reason I upgraded my old computer rather than buying a new one - the thought of having so much trouble with all my embroidery files makes me weak at the knees!!! I wish you lots of luck and I see you have had some good advice from the Cute family.
I've been shopping for a new computer. I now have XP and will have to go to Windows 7 for the new computer.
I voiced concern about using everything I have that works on the XP... and was told that for about $100 there is a device to hook up to your Windows 7 that will allow you to use all your XP stuff.
I have a card writer that would not be compatable with the Windows 7 and a new card writer is about $300. To me it will be worth $100 extra.

When installing some software on a Win7 system it is possible to select "Run in XP Mode" and it works better.

Have you tried not copying them to your laptop but just opening them from the CD or USB?

If you don't already belong to their yahoo group, I would join and ask there. Steve, the man who wrote the software programs, is right there along with a couple of other great moderaters, and will guide you through any problems you have.
Sometimes you have to turn off the firewall or virus program to install...have you tried that? If you still have the xp, try backing up again...the files may have corrupted while copying to the dvd or memory stick. But personally, I'd try the virus program 1st.
Instead of transfering them I would suggest putting them on a USB stick, CD or DVD. That's what I would do. Arlene
They are all backed up on cd and usb both, that is what I used to transfer them to the computer..
Good for you doing this!
So all the designs are safe, till you get things running smooth, "teething" on the new laptop. My windows 7 does all I want.
Do you think the designs should be backed up on a cd or usb stick or something like that? I am pretty green in this area but I m sure that another cuite can do a better job of answering you< good luck!
