Zipped bags

My neighbour gave me some remnants of what's called "folklore" fabric here. That means is is or was used for regional costumes, the genuine ones not what is known abroad as the Dutch costume (that's just a faux mix of some of the regional ones).
The bags on the left and the right hold sets of finger puppets. The one in the middle has a test stitch-out of a simple Mylar embroidery that had been laying around in my sewing room.

How beautiful Martine. I love the use of the Mylar in the flowers it makes them "sparkle arkle"!!!

I like the idea of a bag for the little finger puppets I must do that! I also love the fabric, it looks nice and sturdy. Love and blessings Chri

Thanks, Chris. I first put them in plastic ziplock bags so they would not get lost in my sewing room, it took me quite a while to get the idea that for the kids a more permanent solution would not be amiss.

Interesting background on the fabric. Nice bags.

Thank you. The design is woven into the material, which makes it twice as thick as a normal cotton and thus sturdy enough for bags.

Very pretty fabric, and a great solution for storing all these finger puppets we're making. Thanks for sharing all your designs and ideas. It sure makes my days more enjoyable.

Thank you! I intend to give the fingerpuppets to my younger granddaughters at my husband's birthday party. I think (hope) that will keep them happy.

I really like this fabric - great for these as it has more body than cotton prints. Great use of a test stitchout as well!

Thanks. I still ironed a fusible interfacing to the back of the larger one.

They look really nice. I like the fabric, as well. It looks a bit heavier in weight 9similar to what is sometimes called "homespun" fabric in the US, and is made of cotton) - is that correct?

It is a bit heavier, about the weigth of denim and it's pure cotton.

Love the material and the trim - beautiful!! It looks like your zippers are right on the top of your bags. Did you do them ITH or sew them? Very nice! Hugs, Laura*

Thank you. I sewed them as the large one did not fit my hoops and I did not want a bottom seam in the smaller ones.
