Bad news. Just heard from the repairman about my Janome 350. It will cost about half of the sale of a new machine in parts alone to fix it, and I can't afford a new machine right now. So very very sad. I loved that machine and the 5x7 field! I guess I must fall in love with my sewing machine all over again and be grateful I have that. I figure I am intitled to three to four days of sulking. (Because I know I will!!):( :(

Oh how we become attached to our machines!!Sorry that yours is acting up. I agree about getting a second opinion but knbow sometimes that is hard if there is only one dealer in your area. It might be worth a long distance phone call to the next closest dealer for cpomparison. I remember hearing don't throw good money after bad so maybe you should try to save up enough for a different machine. My machine is going to be sitting lonely and unused while we are away for awhile, I always think someone culd be using it!!Goood luck.

I priced the Memory Craft 350E at a local shop (South Australia) last week..... $2799.00 RRP. At Christmas time she sold them for $1999.00 and she is waiting for the Mothers Day catalogue price to come out to see whether she will stock any 350E machines then.

I'm hoping someone will be wanting to trade in an existing 350E for something bigger and I might be lucky enough to get the trade-in!!!

I must tell you my story,I had aproblem with my Bernina Activa 145. The cost of a new board would be R3000,00 so I brought it home from the dealer without getting the repairs done. I waited for my son to come home, he was working overseas. He did the repair on the board for the cost of R1,26 for the part.
I am so fortunate to have a DS who can fix any and everything.
He is in great demand from friends and family and they all miss him when he is away from home.
Hope you have someone who can help you get yours repaired for a resonable price.
Hugs and "sulking is not productive" so keep yourself busy if that is possible.
From Bev

Seems you have everybodys blessing to sulk!! Yay! Sorry to hear about your machine. As others have said, get a second opinion. Then if the answer is the same, try what janetedna said. Good luck - keep us posted.

Why don't you ask your country's Janome main dealer (head office) for their thoughts on what you have been told is wrong and how much you have been quoted for the parts. Tell them the age of the machine which can't be very old and see if they can help. If not, I would have a go at repairing it myself. The arm moves on belts of some sort and can be pushed back into position against the back of the machine if necessary. If you're going to replace it you can't make it any worse but still keep it to trade in, if and when an offer arises. Best of luck, Jan

I agree with everyone. Get a second opinion and then look around for a secondhand embroidery machine that might not cost as much. I don't know the cost of the Janome 350, but if it is anywhere close to my midline brother, I know you can find something out there cheaper. LOL... We all give you permission to sulk, because I know I would be upset for months... so go ahead and have your three or four days and if it goes past that, we are right there with you. LOL...

So sorry to hear this but as some have said I would get a second opinion before doing anything. If I had to spend half of what a new machine costs fixing my old one. I do believe I would try to get another, look a while you may be able to get a good used one with a warranty on it. I would be lost without my machine. I took it to be serviced the other day came home and brought 2 of my old reg. sewing machines(no embroid.) I almost have to do a little sewing everyday. got my other back in 2 days. Hope you can come up with a solution soon/Lillian

can you find another repairman ,to give you a quote,I had a simmmilar problem with my 350E,I had put some face washers on the top of my machine and had not noticecd they had fallen down the back, into the open arm,so when I turned my machine on the arm came in and squashed the cloths ,my are would move side ways but not back and forward. It cost me $140 to have some part relplaced and a service.
The lesson I have learnt now is I NEVER turn off my machine with the arm out

If I understood properly, it is the base of the machine itself. It is grinding and now the arm for the hoop will not move up and down only back and forth. I was quoted about $700.00 for the repairs.(I hope I can say that, if not I apologize)I bought this machine about one year ago USED and the lady had it serviced regularly. She even gave me the service papers as proof. So it was NOT abused or neglected at all. It is just one of those things that happen. I was just the lucky one it broke on. No warranty for used machines! That is why I won't repair it, must try to save for a new one down the road. So chin up and onward. It already makes me feel better unloading about this so maybe, by the weekend things will seem okay. :) Yes I do quilt and knit, but embroidering is my new passion. I will still download the beautiful DBC as I can not miss the talent of so many people. :0) Thank you Cuties!
