Suggesstion do not use cheap thread on embroidery. You should use the ones suggessted below . I use medeira and isocord. Floriani Metro are all good threads. Look for the ones made in Germany and the USA. Stay away from the ones from China and Mexico. It is better to order them on line if you do not have them available. Allstitch is another good place to get thread. Google it and you will find companies to ship them to you. A lot of times these sites run good sales. Hope that helps Suzanne

I use Metro - I got all 166 colors just after I got my first machine and love it - and Floriani (got a few spools with my machine and it is nice too).
My wonderful husband gave me this year for my birthday all the colours of Madeira. 2 big chest with 6 drawers in total 365 colours. I am in thread heaven! I still have to finish all my small remnants and only if I do not have the colour am I allowed to use yhe new thread. (I still have a lot of old thread.)
I'll try again-
Thank-you all for your answers. Those of you who use Metro, where do you buy it?
I bought Floriani when I got my newest machine three years ago and I loved it. BUT, then I found Metro and it's great, love the sheen, the colors and the price. And my machine loves it!
I use Metro thread. I have for years. I like the sheen of it and my machine likes it.

Hi, I have used Coats All purpose for everything except embroidery! I use 100% cotton, Polyester, rayon, or metallics for embroidery. Embroidery does not require the strength that all purpose has. It has cotton covering polyester core. My cotton is 50 wt, whereas most polyester and rayons are 40 wt. It is amazing how much difference that makes. Thread is also difficult to figure because there is no standard measure, 40 wt. may mean something different for one brand than the next, that is because one is measured by weight and the other by length. Experimentation is your best bet. Good Luck! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
