Please don't yell at me ... I ran out of Brother bobbin thread so I tried overlocking thread. It works perfect.. The end result is a little bit stiffer but otherwise no problems. No extra lint or fluff and no breakages. Any reason I shouldn't use overlocking thread if it works? What do you think? Lyn. xx

Never thought about it but worth a try. I went to the site but didn't find a price on the thread. So you mind telling me how much it is? I always check the price of anything first. I have a Viking Designer 1 and I have regular overlock thread and I wonder if that will work. No harm in finding out. Roberta

I've never tried it in my HVDII bobbins but I'm willing to give it a go. Really interesting comments here.

This sounds interesting. I will try it but my machine (Brother) is so picky about thread I won't be surprised if it "SPITS IT OUT!) LOL

Lol, Lynn. Glad to hear I'm not the only one trying to save a buck with this expensive hobbie. I use overlock thread and other threads a lot. The embroidery thread is beautiful on top, but one dense items tends to break easier. I use it in the bobbins most then.

It works for me as well! So much cheaper than Janome brand and my Janome machine doesn't like the thinner bobbin thread. It doesn't mind the overlocker thread.

I have used Overlockthred on FSL,it is more economical. The only Drawback is that it is thicker und doesnt fit as much Thread on the Bobbin

I made FSL hearts with it and they turned out better than with the Poly thread:>)

When I got my first embroidery machine in 1994 they told me I could use overlocker thread in the bobbin & have never had any trouble with it. Overlocker thread is easier to come by if you live away from a city.As for brands they all seem to be from China or somewhere in Asia

I say if it works for you and you're happy with the outcome, go for it. Hugs..Carol

I used to do a lot of my test stitching with serger thread, I never had any problems with it.

I have no problem using serger thread in bobbin. I use it all the time and like it in FSL designs.

I have always used it in my other Embroidery Machines, but my Janome 11000 does not like it. Only Janome bobbin thread. My dealer sells another bobbin case and adjusts the tension so other threads can be used in the bobbin, which makes it much cheaper.

I use it as well. When I do FSL I use the same thread in the Bobbin as on the top.

Interesting.. what type of o/l thread are you referring to. My o/l thread is basically the same as my normal s/m thread. Sounds like you're using a finer one. Do you buy yours on the net?

I use Birch brand only because it is cheap & my local patchwork shop always has it in stock. xx

I used this too when I started with embroidery but now I use bobbinthread cause it is thinner. I don't like winding my bobbins and you can get more length on them with the bobbinthread :o)
Sometimes I use regular thread for embroidery when I need a color and did not have it as embroiderythread.
Greetings, Bettina

I always use Overlocker thread for all my embroidery sewing. The only time I don't is when I'm doing FSL and you use the same colour for top and bottom. Love Chris
