Problems with embroidery thread breaking when working on towels! I was working on a pretty thick towel, using tear away stabilizer on the bottom and wss on the top. I've tried 5-7different threads and 2 different designs, but the thread keeps breaking every 60 stitches or so!!! If I use thin (cheap) towels or other fabric, no problems with thread breaking. Any suggestions or words of wisdom??? Thanks.

You said same thread, needle, etc. Maybe the needle is just a little dull or has a small burr? Might not need a bigger needle, might just need a new needle. It is always the last thing I think of and usuall fixes what I have struggled with a half dozen other possible solutions! Think I'd learn! LInda

I have better luck with 2 layers of wash-away on the bottom and wss on top, and a size 12 needle I am having rotten luck with tear-away.

Maybe try lowering your top thread tension down just abit.
Or try a larger sized needle - size 80/12 perhaps.

Are you sure your embroidery arm is moving right with the thicker towel weight?
You might have to hold the excess towel off the embroidery arm or machine while it stitches.

I'm doing towels, too. I hadn't thought to hold the towel off the embroidery arm. Thanks for the advice.

also try slowing your machine down!

I've slowed the machine right down, no luck. Same design, same thread, same needle on thinner towel --> no problem.
I will try a larger sized needle next!
