Had a mouse get in my washer, the service man said they like to eat the plastic tubing in the washer. It also kills them. I turned on the machine to do a load and got a tub full of bloody water.Yuck! I scrubbed and cleaned and finally had to have a service man take the machine apart to get the stinky remains.
The smell is starting to disappear but I still haven't found whatever is dead. Still think it is in my washing machine somewhere.
If you can run a heater in your wash room.
It will 'dry' the smell and the dead animal.
The bicarb and bowls of vinegar are also good to absorb smells.
Worse still are the maggots????
Sorry for you.
Hugs Bev
No flies around to have maggots. Have pulled the back off the washing machine and the Clothes Drier but still nothing. Only a few more days and the smell will go away. Thank goodness it is not my turn to have the Ladies here.
I now think that this smell is a RAT as it has been going on too long and I now don't think it is not in my washing machine but in the wall. The smell is coming through a vent in my Bath Tub. I will block that today and see if that helps.
We havr 3 cats and a daily occurance is dead mice. My dog and I race to get it. She to eat it. I to dispose of it in the bin. Good Luck I know the smell well of a dead mose and it is not pleasant!
Sounds like fun! When Kate was small, we took her two gerbils on holiday with us. We thought they would be noisy in the caravan so at night, we put the cage in the car. They got out - and had a lot of fun behind the dashboard amongst the wires. We had a heck of a job getting them out.
Good luck with your "mouse-hunting"!
Last Sat hubby looked out his study window to see a mouse scurry across the driveway. When I got home my housemaiid tells me she saw the mouse in the dining room. Well I didn't see it so was going shopping for rat poisen on Sunday.
Sunday morn I was relaxing on my bed reading the papers, when out the corner of my eye I saw movement. Initially I ignore it but when it happened again I slowly got up, to see a tail sticking out from the back of my knitting be. I picked it up and to grip it so it wouldn't get away I used my thumbnail to pinch the tail. Now what to do? The back door key was in my bag, my hubby was out and here I had the mouse and didn't know what to do with it. It squealed and tried to get away and eventually turned upwards and bit me on the finger holding the tail. Enough to make me mad - so I used the other hand and gripped it by the scruff of the neck, proceeded to the kitchen which has a tiled floor and threw it with a thwack onto the floor - one dead mouse! Urrrrgh, took a plastic bag, put my hand into it, picked up the dead mouse and tied it in the bag. Later discoverd a piece of it's tail lying o n the floor - so anxious was it to get away! Thank goodnes I caught it abefore it cause a "stink" like yours did!
Hoping you solve your problem soon. We had that problem once at work in the photcopier - first time we used it after it died inside we had one fried mouse!
Hugs
Elizabeth
I live where there are farms and so there are always mice and rats running around the paddocks. I had put some poison out now that I no longer have a dog. Think a rat has eaten the bait and somehow gone into a wall.
On the opposite side of the world to you it is spring. My cat Tuppance is having a field day (month) chasing the baby rabbits. Last night I heard noises downstairs while I was sewing upstairs. Tuppance looked as if butter wouldnt melt in her mouth and was qyietly washing herself. When I went down 10mins later there was a little bunny hopping about under the dining table. I was able to remove the cat from the room and then went on a bunny hunt (not wishing to have your problem) Bunny was in the corner of the room, I knew if I moved the chair it would move, so I spent the rest of the evening peeping under the dining table to see it was still there. Luckily my son in law is staying and he was able to catch and take bunny outside. I have spent a couple of evenings chasing mice under the dining table to release them in the garden. Is the corpse under the washing machine. Good luck with the search and hope you find the problem. My advice is to wear rubbergloves.
If you tipped the washing machine up and used a flashlight to have a look and it wasn't there then the back comes off most brands of washing machines. The smell is disgusting so I know how bad you want to get it out.
Talking to a girlfriend today and she has said the same as you. Can't make myself do that today so might tackle that tomorrow
I guess you know it's there by a smell. Maybe it's in the wall cavity....My mum had a smell in her bedroom once - it was actually coming in the window as there was a dead cat under the house. Hope you sort it our soon
Hope it is not a cat but then there are no cats around here. Will have another look tomorrow
