Ok, just found this, and I know it was April Fool's Day. Enjoyed all the answers. But did you see jrob's post saying something like "you thought embroidering toilet paper was going pretty far?"--open that one, look at the pix. That embroidery had to be done with a commercial machine (or a really really obsessed home embroiderer not taking her medication), but I didn't even know it could be done!! Go look, hugs, Marji
hehehe so funny I always say if it can be done I can do it but I am sure this can not be done. It is April first so I asume it is a joke.love and hugs lenamae
the most obviouse answer is of cause to let all the air out first and then iron them flat. she may like to cut the tyre into easy managable sections first and embroider the design on in the hoop that way and then re join useing a close large zig zage along the cut edges once all the emboidery is completed. I suggest she uses water soluble film as the carrier as it is much easier to remove and any remaining bits will disapear once they are replaced on the car and driven along the road especialy if it is raining
care must be taken in the choice of designsed and as allready sugested lower the speed of the machine and use a good thread as cheaper types do not last very long and can cause problems with the unraveled threads hitting the nut behind the wheel and causeing even bigger problems once the giggle pin has been loosened.
I would also suggest that she has a large stock of leather strength needles. i found out that i broke several of mine when i did the tyres on my own car but it is well worth the effort to customise the vehicle in this manner as it makes any would be thief think twice before attempting to drive off with such a special car.
once she gets the hang of embroidering through the rubber walls she could then attempt to quilt the entire body to match.
one warning.
if she should be aproached by any men wearing white coats and carrying a jacket with several straps on then i would advice a fast take off as they are after her secrets on how to do this specialised work so that they can send the idea to desbysick to get free designs.
i look forward to seeing the results of her handywork in the projects section

Annie, I'm copying Maria's question and your answer, toooo good to lose!!! You have a wonderful wit & good expression of it! Hugs, Marji
You got me. And I didn't respond because I didn't have a clue. Hugs & Stitches, Liz LOL
Just now seeing this. Laughing helps my pollen headache!!!
I think from the responses, initially you had some wondering - then it probably didn't take long to realize it was April fools! I enjoyed reading the comments - good sense of humor!
I had a rough week-end! I was already about nuts as it was but I am not sure if your sister isn't in worse shape than I am. Yes, I have tried some crazy craft ideas over the years but most were with a paint brush....I sure do hope you are exaggerating trying to make a point! hehe! Of course, life has already proven to me that some people will try most anything once they get a crazy idea. Maria, tell your sister that what ever ideas she has that there is time to try them all without working herself ragged! A body can only do so much before it has to have rest! Once you get really tired, you begin to make mistakes and you have a mess to clean up or worse, throw away! I was full of nervous energy up until I nearly died after surgery 7 yrs ago. I have no energy at all anymore. Just gtting the things I have to do, done, zaps all of my energy and at 65, you either give in and rest or you end up making mistakes even with things that you have done all of your life. I had to find this out the hard way! Hugs, Linda
My friend embroidered her luggage! No kidding. She made it free standing and then had some powerful adhesive she used. It looks incredible. It would take quite an adhesive for tires!
Start by taking them off the car first and than try a magna hoop. Do not try to hoop the tire. Place them on sticky stabilizer and than get on your knees and pray while turning on the machine.
Sure, you just turn them inside out and use sticky paper on the part that you want to be embroidered. Warn her that she may have to hold it during the embroidery process, because tires are very heavy. I would also recommend that she slow down her machine. Is she making them into white walls?
I did that once, the hard part is getting them in the hoop. lol

Thanks for the smile - very clever if your sister manages to both embroidery the tyers AND keep the air in! LOL
perhaps she can do a test stitch first on the tires of a bicycle haha.
design idea if you refer to the tire tread pattern, pls explain more details
