Thank you so much for all your help. I am going to try a patch first and get that done, then I will try the direct approach and if it does not work out put the patch on. Will see how it goes and will show when it is done, thank you so much for your prompt replies, love and Hugs S* flowers for all*
I did a puffy nylon jacket and it turned out okay. By no means am I am expert but here is what I did: 1. Hoop a couple layers of stabilizer.
2.Carefully pin the jacket near the outer edges, to the stabilizer-I don't have good luck with the sticky stabilizer or the adhesive spray so didn't use it.
3. I used a universal needle as it seems to go through the nylon
4. Put a layer of water soluable stabilizer on the jacket and use your basting stitch to baste it all together.
5. If you can, slow your machine down. Stitch away.
Good luck
This is far from a stupid question...I did a run of jacket back for a client that were on hoodies lined with that sherpa thick lining..I used sticky stablilizer with several layers of medium cutaway stuck on the back of that with 505 spray. Of course the jacket wouldn't stick to the sticky stabilizer so I pinned it best I could and ran my machine slower than normal...also did several Carthart jacket (very thick quilt lined jackets) this same way.....here is a pic of result of hoodie with sherpa lining...good luck with your project.. Yes, Christine, I only have one machine, this is one hooping done with my series 8 Bernina with the jumbo hoop. I would love to have a multi needle machine, but am still paying this machine off...I did 30 of these jackets...with sherpa linings, what a nightmare!! But they turned out great....
what a nightmare, but they turned out great. They were a nightmare, because I had to babysit them in the machine and run it slow.......
some things you can do right off. some you have to do differently but all things are possible this is one of the things you do differently and make a badge and sew it on as allready sugested.

If I wereoing this I would sew the design as a badge and then sew that on. The thought of trying to get something large and unmanagable under the right bit of the machine is mind boggling. Have fun and let us see the results
