Yes, please heed this advice everywhere, not just Cute. Web pages, blogs, etc. are routinely cached, and information can always be retrieved. There is a Google search on this site that is dedicated and will only search Cute. Other websites have this also. But the 'big' Google search engine, and all the others, will bring up whatever keyword you're looking for, wherever it is. If you don't want it brought up again, don't put it out there in the first place. That's one of the properties of a Web, after all, is that it's sticky! I Googled myself and found an article I wrote in a magazine from 1991! I really had a giggle over that. Hugs, Marji
Last year I was disgusted to discover that another embroidery site listed my birthday using my real name not my user name. So now in some cases I used made up info to register on some sites.
Makes you worried that the simple things in life and lovely friendships are always misused by scoundrells. Let just support one another the best way we can and enjoy our embroidery for that is the reason we are caring and sharing with one another. Some people just cannot let a person have some decent fun and enjoyment out of life without stealing it away. Have a lovely Easter Ladies and lots of fun and easter goodies.****
If we put in a name on this site (such as momhome) in our google search then it will pull up my posts here on this site. I found this out when trying to search for one of the digitizer to find her designs. I was surprised.
Sometimes we forget that everything we post is out there somewhere for folks to read. Thank you for the reminder.

Boy, do I agree with this. You'll never see a photo of me on here & I don't give out personal info. Its too easy for your idenity to be stolen, leaving you with years and years of heart ache and $ out trying to fix it all.
This is true. Same goes for commenting on Yahoo groups, that will put your comment and your email out there. So when I have something important to say to a Yahoo Group owner, I send an email.
If you have written something down and clicked on send-it's out there on the internet. Only those sites with security--a https address start- are secure (we hope).
This is very true. So I would not put my full name, birthdate and address as a post in community. I try also not to post very personal information either tho sometimes I forget when posting.
can never be to causious in this world where information can be misused.
Was it a regular google search box? Google has everything interconnected. so yes I believe this to be true! Facebook also!
YES, regular google search box. I am not on Facebook but I would be very surprised if our posts ARE NOT ON THERE.
Just be careful what you put on here or any other site where you post.
This is the reason that I never post my picture.
And I did not post my birthdate either - too much happens in cyber-space that is not nice.
