I was just reading about some special hoops that allow you to emb on gloves, pants, pockets etc. without taking items apart. Has anyone used them yet?

Took me forever to find my question. I was reading about it in an online mag. Tons of free designs and interesting info. Now I have to find out if it will work on my Janome.

Janome has a small hoop but only does designs about 1 1/2 square and can be used in hard to get places

When I was at the Atlanta Sew and quilt show earlier this year I saw a Brother professional embroidery machine that stood on a stand and had arm that extended at a right angle. It had a flip down metal clamp to hold items in place( no hoop). Can't remember how the stabilizers worked. It was around $7000. i remember thinking how great for caps.totes, etc. I was going to watch the demo, but the ladies I was with were more interested in the Quilting $30,000. or $40,000. Machine which none of us could afford. Does anyone have a Brother dealer near?

Think this may be the machine you were looking at Katy .. this is the machine that would take the Quick-Snap Hoops that I was talking about below...

Hi Celtic is it the Quick-Snap Hoops that you are referring to ? If so they are only good for the multi needle machines I think - Designs in Machine Embroidery sells them...may be something else you are referring to though...*4U

I've just embroidered on the leg of a pair of jeans to cover a tear. This kind of hoop would have been ideal, as I had to first unpick a seam before I could get it into my hoop!! *4U

I remember someone posted a pair of socks embroidered with a special hoop. I have no special ones, only a very small one that does the job for breast pockets. Does it depend on the brand embroidery machine one has got. Good question, I like to see the answers, something to learn about. Flower for you.
