I'm a loop person for most FSL, but I do enjoy the option of using it or not. However, I don't like the big ole loops. Just large enough for a ribbon or cord will do.
Good question and interesting feedback from everyone.
Hugs!
If it is something I want to hang or put a ribbon through I like the loop. Of course if it's a bowl or vase... or one of the Christmas ball covers -- no loops needed.

Just depends what I want it for- sometimes I want the convenient loop
This is a interesting question. I'll put other color to the loop for my next FSL designs. Hugs, Yoriko
Bev, if you have designs in my website that you wanted without a loop, just let me know. Thank you, Yoriko
I would love to have the option of loop or no loop, especially on the angels.
I always digitise a loop as the first colour, then use a second colour for the rest of the design. So if I don't want a loop I just skip colour one.
I have Pe-Design digi program and I use the "sissors" to cut the loop off, then add a few "points" in edit point, to neaten if need be.
Happy stitching!
Its great to have the choice :-)
I like the different colour idea so you can use or skip :-)
big hugs - Maria xx
I'm with you Bev, most of the time I don't want a loop. I prefer it if they make the loop a different color so I can use it, or skip it. I have to go in with my software and take it out, which takes a long time. But then, I usually group 3-4 of the designs together for one hooping of them so I can make more than one at a time. Do you have that capability? It is a pain to do, but once it is done, you save them and have them for all times. I like to attach FSL to other things, or just give them out to people who look like they need cheering up.
I prefer the loop. I do mostly charms, bookmarks, and ornaments in lace and the loop is essential there.
I have done a lot of them with loops. Mostly Christmas ornaments. FSL is my favorite type of embroidery. I have lots of designs with loop and without.
Love FSL. Not all FSL come with a loop, and the loop is useful if, for example, you want to append a Christmas ornament to your Christmas tree or somewhere else.

Bev, when it comes to ornaments or bookmarks - the loop is very important - depending on what you want the FSL for. If you don't like the loop - watch the design and stop it before it gets to it and advance your design forward to the end of the loop or you could ask the designer to take the loop off - some offer their FSL designs with the loop and without it. Keep on stitching.
It was just a fun question, we all have our preferences when it comes to what we like. I'm glad there are so many choices.
Depends how you want the FSL design used.
The loop gives the option of hanging it as an ornament or using it as a book mark by adding ribbon through the loop.
Many of the FSL designs I do are for doilies or larger projects such as table runners and they don't have loops.

I have used a large 5X7 hoop for FSL many times. And each time they have came out perfect. After my daughter seen what I did with it. She wanted to make some for other people for gifts at Christmas this past year. I have also used the other larger hoop also. That is when I am making the FSL snowflakes or just multiple fsl at one time. Peg
