I use fabric markers to hide the edge. Looks great to me!! Suzanne
Love it!!! I think the design is from Sadia sews. I just made the one with the plain front and I used fleece the color of my fabric. I'm hoping it won't show or won't be noticeable. I'm stitching the last ouline as I type.
A marker will work just fine. Thanks for sharing! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I'm sure you are far too critical of your "mistakes", just like I am, LOL! Other folks don't even notice what we see as glaring errors. Hugs and *'s
Do you have a pair of applique scissors, it may help you trim closer to the fabric.
No I don't. Have never really liked applique but must invest in a pair of scissors if I am going to do applique.
I use a applique scissors but you cant always get every thing off.. I will try the pens now too.. thanks
Lyn, what a shame - hope the next one works out better - I like the idea of the marker to cover up the white.
Thanks Shirlene. Tried to pull the wadding but that is a no go, so I will have to use a pen.
Great job! When a tad of white is showing after trimming really close a Nikko Fabric colour marker works wonders too - item is washable after 24 hours or immedately after you iron your item...has worked for me.
Thanks for the hint. Not sure if we have Nikko Fabric colour Marker here in Aust.
I'm a West Aussie & found them a few years back in stationery shops, card making shops, speciality art shops, but any brand of fabric marker would do....always a great item to have in your stash along with the Tombow markers too.
It's nice and still useable as an eyeglass case. Next time you'll make another one, you will remember to trim closer, before embroidering the satin border. Hugs, Lidia
Made another tonight but can't take a photo till tomorrow as my camera is not a good one.
It still looks great and a non sewist wouldn't even realise what it's meant to be like :) But if it was still in the hoop, I'd have added another row of Satin Stitch to fix the external part. You could do some more zigzag or satin stitch on the regular machine to achieve the same end. Or like some have said, a permanent marker would be fine, too. I guess you could even add a binding, for that matter.
That is a great idea. Think I will give that a try as the other didn't work. Have to wait till I get to the shops to buy a pen. Thank You
Yeah, its the not trimming close enough before final satin. You probably can trim more, use a marker or melting if is poly wadding. Its not to much-you probably can clean it up by pulling the wadding taught at an angle and trimming with sharps.
There is a heat cutting tool used to trim embroidery since polyester thread will not melt using this tool. Don't know what kind of thread you used but that would tidy up the wadding. It did turn out really nice and there are permanent fabric markers that would not wash out.
The glasses case looks pretty good. I'd try the blue marker& wondered did you use a spray adhesive before putting down the wadding to keep it from shifting while stitching? I'd gone to embroidery library to get stitching tips& it helped me. Thanks for sharing your project.:~D
I think it looks nice other then the white. Do you feel like you can trim closer? If not how about using a blue marker on it like one of the other cuties has suggested on other projects. Don't give up - keep trying and your next one will be perfect.
I might get a pair of tweezers and see if I can pull some of the wadding off + use a Marker pen.
YEP MY FIRST ONE LOOKED LIKE THIS THEN I USED WWS NOMORE WHITE HUGS CAROLYN
I find it soo frustrating when I do things like that too. Often I can still see the stabilizer. Will you keep the case or throw it away??? Lyn. xx
No I won't throw it away if I can't rectify it, I will give it to a friend who will appreciate it even if it is only 90%.
