Ever have a day where you just should never have turned a machine on? All I have to do is make 25 FSL ladybug charms..After 8 broken needles and two machines ahhh I quit!

I have changed threads ,changed settings just cannot get it done..And to boot the thread keeps getting stuck in the machines...Never had these issues before.:(

As I mentioned I use the strips of Shelf Liner on my hoops as shown in the link on the Criswell website that I gave in a previous message here.

I leave this on my hoops for all embroidery.

It holds all fabric and stabilizers taut in the hoop and I find I don't have to over tighten my hoop screws.

Just remember not to put it into the corners of the hoops as these are the tightest places of our hoop.

Our hoops are much looser on the long sides and the top and bottom so that is why you just apply the tape to the sides and not into the corner.
The larger the hoop the looser the sides and top and bottom so they don't grip as tight in those areas.

The Wonder Tape is a water soluble double sided tape so when the shelf liner strips look worn down you can take the strips off the hoop and wash the tape off and then reapply new tape and new shelf liner.

I like that fact that the strips are adhered to my hoop as it makes hooping stabilizers or fabric much easier than having a seperate piec of shelf liner to hoop too.

Yoriko has a very cute ladybug charm (www.mygardened.com) and all of her lace stitches BEAUTIFULLY! She also has a FSL alphabet that has a lady bug on each letter.

Have you cleaned away any fluff under the bobbin case? I find that this often causes problems.

I attended an embroidery seminar, and the instructor showed us how to use the gripper fabric with our hoops. Use the thinner type found in the $ store. Cut a piece about an inch larger than the hoop on all sides. Use the dbl side tape around the back of the top hoop. Set it on the gripper stuff. Trim about a half inch on the inside, leaving a framework around all 4 sides. I have done it on one of my 4x4 hoops, and it works great on the wss.

plan on buying that today because the hoop has no tension ,,another issue with my singer lol..

jofrog2000 by jofrog2000 13 Apr 2012

Other hoops, I use a piece of paper towel, or longish scraps of the wss on the sides to help hold.

Yes! The embroidery demons were dancing feverishly in my sewing room right before Christmas and they effectively interfered with the completion of my gift production! I am still catching up as one of the needles I broke pierced my bobbin case. My machine waited for repairs for a month, as the pulling of the thread whacked-out the tension! I have had the repair man show me what to do with the thread feed and the bobbin case. He said these issues are common malfunctions, but easy to fix. Did you know there is a crafty little gizmo to test your bobbin case's tension? I want one! Hope you have a better time after today. God bless:>)

Yes, do try a design you "know" works on the other machine - it is possible there is an issue with that design. I have the DBS design but have not stitched it out (I prefer Yorkio - www.mygardened.com - for FSL designs).

A lot of people had trouble with the small FSL earrings and some of the other small FSL charm type of designs from Designs by Sick and they mentioned that the designs were just too dense.

1st I would ask - whose design this is and then I would ask: is it one that you have had success with in the past; did you shrink the design - that could cause some trouble; is this an old spool of thread?

If I was to do a lot of fsl on one hoop- I would definetly use 3 sheets of vilene Wash Away- I've never used the plastic type. Also, don't place them as close to each other. Make sure to tighten hoop with the screw driver on the Singer 6x10- By hand is not enough. I put .5 in between the designs and not to close to the edges either- 3 or 4 across of
1 to 1.5 inch. See if that helps.

Sorry I forgot the link that shows how to put the Shelf Liner Strips on your inner hoop.
Link Below.
Click each picture for a close up look at each.

This really works and holds the water soluble stabilizer tight in the hoop so it doesn't get pulled into the hoop while you stitch and cause thread problems.
I have this on all my hoops.

Eastwitch - do you take off the gripper when you are not doing FSL or do you leave it on for all your designs?

eastwitch2 by eastwitch2 13 Apr 2012

I leave it on my hoops for all embroidery.
It hold all types and weights of fabric and stabilizers tight in the hoop.
Works great!

irst make sure to clean all the thread out of your bobbin area and the bobbin tension on the bobbin case.
Then rethread the machine and make sure your top thread clicks into the top thread tension and that the bobbin thread is clicked into the bobbin tension disc on the bobbin case.

Perhaps you should try testing just one of the charms,
If there are several thread color changes or jumps it could be that your top thread is getting tangles in the jump stitches on the back of the design.
Don't know how large a hoop you are using but maybe your Aqua Mesh is slipping in the hoop while you stitch which could cause thread problems.
Here is a link that shows how to adhere strips of shelf liner on the bottom of your inner hoop with Wonder Tape that is a 2 sided tape (water soluble tape) this helps hold the water soluble stabilizers tight in the hoop while you embroider FSL. Link below click each picture for a close look at each.
You might also try putting less designs in the hoop or do 2 or 3 in a smaller hoop.
Slow your machine down if you can when stitching!

So sorry you are having "one of those days". If you can provide more details maybe a Cutie can help you out? So, what stabilizer are you using, what size hoop are you using, have you used the thread before (on some other project), did you resize the FSL (and if you don't mind - who is the digitizer)? This may give some clues to help....
