If you get something, just remember to allow alot of hours to learn how to use it. Why not contact a designer and get a quote from them to digitize a design for you.
There is also Stitch Era Universal which you "pay" for by having to be connected to the internet while using the program so that it can load adverts. (link 1)

Thredworks is a very simple one but it works for me. It does not have fancy stitches, but you can create and input your own. I don't know how to do that well. It has a ton of instruction available. Good luck on finding one you like. Carol
