Re-upholstered Recliner. This is my 4th piece of furniture and just brought it home yesterday. It took quite a bit of time, but it turned out really well. PS I will never re-upholster another recliner. LOL!

I really admire you for this. Beautifully done. I upholstered a sofa a long time ago - never again!!!

Oh it took me longer than 1 day. About six months. I've had a love/hate relationship with this recliner. I've re-upholstered 2 wingback chairs, 1 loveseat the size of a samll sofa & the recliner. Never again on a recliner. LOL!

Thank you for all of encourgement and comments. I know throwing a blanket on it would have been easier, but I really wanted to change the color. It was a mauve/pink like velvet. Very late 80's early 90's. I did buy the chair at an estate sale for $20.00 & I got the fabric for $60.00 so it was a very inexpensive project.

You did a fabulous job!! I helped my parents reupholster furniture when I was growing up. Back when furniture outlasted the upholstery. My son wants me to make car seat covers for his new car. I searched high and low last night and never did find a pattern for doing that project. I'll probably have to wing it. How did you determine the pattern pieces for this, or did you disassemble and use the old pieces as a pattern? Good looking piece, no matter how you did it!!!

The old fabric was in pretty good condition so I just used the old pieces as a pattern. On the front of the back I cut it in half & tore it apart & left the other half as a guide to sewing it back together. It was a lot of work. Glad it's done!

Beautiful work. I know how hard it is to do a recliner. We used to push the back against the window so our mini schnauzer could look out the window. Forgot and he chewed it up. Our neighbor bet a steak dinner it wouldn't be done by the weekend so we had a really nice dinner. lol
