Here is a page on the superior Website that has video that explains and shows how the Universal Thread Holder stand works for so many different types of spools and cones of thread and Metallic thread.
3 videos to watch.

Thank you for this link, I have enjoyed watching the three videos showing exactly what to do with each type of spools and cones. I like this stand and it could be the one for me. Thank you again. Hugs, Lidia
A bit pricey for me.
I stand larger threads in a coffee mug, placed behind my machine. A plastic loop that is used to display or hang items (See pic)is press stuck to the lid of my machine on the right side. The loop is to guide the thread up to the machine.
Care must be taken to keep the threads away from the hand wheel. I have never had any problems and the cup keeps the thread from making a wide swing as it unravels or the cone from tippling over.

Thank you, Bev! It's a creative way to solve the problem, that works for you. I'm not so adventurous and like gadgets that give me peace of mind, not having to check them continuously. Thank you again, hugs Lidia
I use the Universal Thread holder stand for all my thread.
I actually have 2 and the link below shows the stand
I like it best as it accomodates both large cones and small spools.
It works great and doesn't tip over.
Works great for metallic thread too!
Read all the information on it oin the link!

Thank you very much for this link. I watched the video e read the explanations. This product is very interesting and could be the right one for me. I liked reading other advices as well. Thank you again. Hugs, Lidia
I use a metal thread stand for stuff like this - works great and much less expensive.
I have a stand with two metal pins on plastic base and is too light and unstable. I bought it many years ago, and it's unsuitable. I looked for a better one but didn't find it in the shops around. Maybe your stand has a metal base as well. Thank you. Hugs, Lidia
I had problems with large spools of thread too. The well was too shallow for the spools,so i bought a metal thread stand that stands just right of my machine, and thread runs along same path as it would if spool was in the well. If the spool is too tall for the spool holder, I put a plastic straw on it. Have used this method for over 7 years.
Thank you, grannieannie. I can't visualize clearly how you put the plastic straw on it. Do you put it onto the machine pin or the metal thread stand? Is it too much trouble to show me in a photo, please? Hugs, Lidia
Sorry about the above question. I re-read your comment and understood your explanation. Thank you!
I use it and I love it for my small spools, and especially for my metallic threads. It definitely helps to keep it tangle-free.
Shirlene, here is a link to Oregon Patchworks, where this device is shown.Hugs, Lidia
thanks Lidia - with a different name - I thought it was something new - I can't use this guide with the spools of thread that I buy - I have the metal stand that sets next to the machine.
Thank you, Shirlene. I have a plastic stand with a metal pin and have used it once, placing it on the right-side of my Husqvarna-Viking Topaz 30, but this stand is too light and unstable. When I asked my dealer, she said that this stand isnn't right for my machine, but she didn't have a better one. Hugs, Lidia
