I have ordered from the States. I have found if it sent by mail it comes right to my door, no duty.
Hi Michelle
I live just on the Ontario side of the Quebec border. We cross over to the USA at Cornwall and have a shipping address in Massena. I have never had a problem going down and picking up orders. I do not know where you are in Montreal, but it might be worth the trip. If you need any info let me know.

Hi Doreen,
Welcome to cuties, or at least I have not noticed you here before. Thanks for the info. I will look into it with my son, he goes to Platsburg and picks things up there. If shipping cost are too high, I will think about it.
Let us know what you find out about the shipping.

E mail them and ask if Fed Ex charges duty for orders brought into Canada.
UPS charges duty and they shouldn't when it is a thread order.
So check if Fed Ex does or call Fed Ex and ask them directly.
that is why I said the United States postal system is better - also USPS has priority boxes that can be used for shipping for one flat fee.
Depending on how large an order determines the size of the Priority box it can be sent in and how much it will cost to ship.
What Vendor are you thinking of buying from that uses Fed EX for shipping??
Better to know ahead of time! LOL

Michelle
I buy alot of thread from the USA and have it shipped to Canada.
The best way is to have it shipped through United States Postal Service.
There shouldn't be any Customs Duty Fees on thread at all.
I have never had to pay Customs Duty Fees on thread or pre wound bobbins.
You could be charged a Customs Handling fee which is minimal or a Post Office Handling fee which is also minimal.
I only paid a fee like this 1 time and it was $5.00.
And have never paid it again and I have had several orders of thread from the USA.
I live in Alberta

Thanks so much Eastwitch,
Just the info I needed, now it looks like I have another place to spend my cash LOL. I did notice that it is cheaper with them to ship FEDEX, that surprised me.
