Hello michelle
What husq machine do you have?
Some years ago my machine was designer 1 with floppy disk. She did not like the thread metr, it always breaks, and she wanted only rayon Sulky, but they are very expensive. Now, I have the Husq Ruby, and I can use any brand of thread. Metro is very well, the cheapest, and they have many very interesting colours I put the spools on a gallow (I do not know if it is the good word), and under the spool, a piece of foam from madeira, those 2 things are cheap. I put a picture for you to understand
You can put 2 spoons, but on the secon place, I have put a case for scissors which that is very useful for me.
Merci Claude,
I also have the ruby so this answers my question,
hugs

on the metallic issue, I've found a fool proof way to use those darn threads. Put your metallic on a thread stand, skip the first tension disk on the threading, use a 'metallics' needle (they are awesome) and slow the machine way down, usually only to use the second notch, pretty slow but works great.
I have the DIamond and bought the big pack of Metro spools some time ago. Love it, love the colors, love the shiny, and the machine works just fine. I use the thread stand for almost every kind of thread, so that probably helps. I use Sulky as my "utility" thread (bigger spools) and have liked it as well. I have most of those colors, tho the line is limited (3 or 4 greens) and I use them for all the fills that I can when exact color match isn't an issue. I also have lots of Robison Anton from my dealer, and some other brands as well. The biggest problem thread is metalic (big surprise lol) and I have tried lots of tricks to help. Put spool in a mug and let it rattle around, up through the thread rack. Sewers Aid helps some, thread net helps sometimes but a pain in the neck with lots of color changes. Some have said to use a packing peanut (styrofoam) and put the thread through before it reaches your tension disks. Haven't done that one yet, but you could try the tricks used for metalics for your Metro and see if anything helps. To tell the truth, more often than not if I change the needle all works well! I don't think my machine knows the difference when I change thread brands, but the type (metalic) it sure does! Good luck. Linda
Thank you Linda,
I will give it a try, it is half the price of what I am currently using. As for metallic thread, it is a big problem for me as well, did have better luck when I passed it through the stryofoam. Have not tried it again since I purchased my Ruby, so will try. Thanks for the info, helps a lot

For you Metallic thread - always use a stand and also netting around the thread - like what you can get from a florist - you can cut it to the size of your spool of thread - it holds it nice and secure.
I am new to the designer I and use Metro exclusively. I have had more problems with the thread stand than with the machine. I use the big spools so I need to get big thread nets (from florist) so it does not fall under the stand. LLDS!
Thanks Linda, check out my posts about thread stand DH made for me. May help

I have a husqvarna designer 1 and I also have quite a few metro threads and have absolutely no problems with them I do find that they tend to work a little easier if I put them on my seperate thread stand instead of the machine. They kinda unwind fast when loaded on their side. Other than that they work beautifully with nary a problem. I've used them for a couple of years now so I feel safe saying so. Try a spool or two first ..........;-)
