I used to, but had to stop because of economy, I was sub. to Designs in Machine Embroidery, Creative Machine Embroidery and Sew Beautiful, I like them very much, Sew Beautiful offers a lot ao ideas for projects specially for children.
No don't subscribe to any emb. magazines or any others anymore.
I have a ton of crossstitch magazines/ crochet magazines/ and knitting magazines. I purchased some really old crochet books for 10 cents each and with what I already have --- I have every pattern there is! I looked at a new crochet magazine the other day and all the patterns were the same as I have and it said ( All NEW DESIGNS) lol
I love books and magazines and all kinds of crafts. Therefore, when I find good crafty magazines at thrift stores I usually buy them. I agree that retail prices for many of them are too expensive (anyway for me to afford!) and full of advertisements. However, if I only pay 10 or 25 or even 50 cents, it's a good deal. And another advantage is I usually don't feel guilty except for the piles of reading material all over the place.
I am getting the only two I know about - Designs in Machine Embroidery and Creative Machine Embroidery - not sure which one I like better yet. Both of them are pretty expensive so I will probably pick one when it comes time to renew.
I agree with others - there is lots of advertising - and I like to see new things but some magazines do have more advertising than they do actual articles!
My daughter gave me a subscription to Designs in Machine Embroidery. I was disappointed in the magazine. IMO there are way too many ads. The instructions are good, but it would be nice if they would demo/ give instructions for some free designs or discount codes to the projects that they feature. I don't mind paying for a design at all, but it seems like they are only advertising for the embroidery company and only giving out the instructions to make the project. When I did not rec'd a magazine I emailed them saying I did not received it, I rec'd a nasty email back, stating the fact that they would issue me another but they are not in business to re-send lost magazines, that did it for me, I did not re-new and told my daughter not to re-new.
I use to collect the designs in machine Embroidery,
Patchwork and Quilts( the best) and also The Bernina Inspiration.
But now I can DL such alot of Patterns for Embroidery, Quilting, Knitting and crochet from the Internet that I don't buy any magazines any more.
