For those who quilt, are there certain colors you tend to use most often or do you vary the colors?

I like bright colors the most. But I use all shades depending on the quilt pattern and my mood I guess. Thanks for asking, Susan

I love color, but quilting for my guys I tend to end up with more masculine colors.I then promptly combine them with a rainbow of colors for scrap quilts :)

I tend to use bright colors for myself. As gifts go, it depends on the person I am making it for. And sometimes I change things up for myself too and go with earthtones or something different.

I've heard that every quilt should have one tiny bit of peach in it. Has anyone else heard that?

I have been quilting for some time and that's a new one for me.

I am a quilting instructor and that's a new one for me too. I have heard Amish quilts all have an imperfection in them or sometimes a drop of blood. Susan

It would depend upon the design of the quilt and what it is use for. I've done some red, white and blue one that I love and a star pattern using beige and browns. So it just depends upon what you lilke.

I guess I'm a bright color gal, no hiding in the shadows for me. I just finished a red, pink, cream and brown paper pieced and it turned out terrific if I do say so myself. I love teaching myself new methods. (especially when they turn out well)

If I am quilting for a customer I use what they choose and make suggestions about value, shading and complimentary colors. But I ususally end up with all their scraps and so I put it all together to make them more homey. I love the scrappy look! The only thing I won't do, is mix materials. I use all 100% good grade cottons. If you havent quilted before and want to start simple, go to the WWW.Quilterscache.com site and look at all she has there. All of her patterns are free!

I try to do my quilts in the colors that will compliment the rooms of the people they are going to. Me I prefer for myself a myriad of colors in patchwork as the oldtime quilts use to be in the south. Made from whatever scraps they had. the one I am working on currently is in shades of blue and white, from navy up to white./Lillian
