Oh Meri, it is soooo pretty and even nicer in person! It arrived today and was number 80! It looks great and sooo colorful! Wow, and the backing you put on it is so African! It is just perfect and whatever child get it is going to treasure it forever! God Bless YOU! hugs, Jan
Great job - so would you do another without the batting?
yes I would. The quilting part takes longer than piecing the top anyway. I free motion quilt on my sewing machine. Wish I had a real quilting machine!sigh!
Meri
how long does it take to complete something like this?
I made two of these similar to each other, one for Uganda and one for the Children's miracle network. It takes hours. First you have to decide what block you want to use ( in this case I chose the easy 9 patch). Once you have all the blocks together, you add the sashing between blocks. When the top is finished I normally quilt it to batting and a backing fabric then finish it off with a border. As with anything, it's one step at a time. Don't be afraid to give it a go, you'll love the results .

You have done this before! It is so wonderful! LLDS!
Been quilting over 16 years so, yeah, I've done this before, never without batting though. That was a challenge.
