Here is a link to your finished work. Excellent jog Shirlene!
Shirlene, you have done a great work, and congratulations with your son and daughter-in-law
It's so lovely and a mammoth task. Good thing both my daughters are married because I do not see myself doing so many little baskets. Hope you can rest now after the wedding. Hugs.
Thank you - I have tried to rest - couldn't sleep most of the night - got ill this AM and now going to try to nap.
I wasn't sure exactly what I was trying to see in the finished picture - not realizing you were showing the finished product and now I see all this - WOW! I was hoping to see what they were actually like. You did an awesome job!
Shirlene, these are just awesome. Very beautiful. Everyone on your guest list will be extremely happy with one Me included HA HA. If you need any help cuties are always up for the challenge. Love to you sweetie, Take care you are an strong and awesome woman!!
Cindy B
Cindy, thank you dear - I would have loved having some of the CUTE families help - in the days before to get this done quickly - I appreciate you comments.
They look quite lovely, but time consuming. So sorry it has become a project you're not enjoying!
:(
Diane
thanks - it was a project that I enjoyed from start to finish - I just don't have the patience for the handwork - like I should.
They look beautiful...what a job you have ahead of you..GOOD LUCK...I am sure everyone who receives one will love it!
Dear Shirlene, I know you have a mammoth task to finish these, but you will. All the Cuties are behind you and I can't wait to hear what the guests think of these MARVELLOUS gifts. They are so unique and will be cherished forever. Love and blessings Chris
Chris, dear thank you for the praise and I especially for the support. I do hope so.
Shirlene hope that you got these beauties completed and that the wedding went well and you relaxed (or maybe you were still sewing)
Really beautiful. and for those that attend and are lucky enough to receive one will keep it forever.
They are lovely Shirlene. I agree its takes longer to handstitch but they will be beautiful!
Congratulations Shirlene!!!Absolutely gorgeous!
kisses
Shirlene they are so beautiful .I am so happy you found some help that is a big job to take on the hand work I would love but I am not so fond of embroery I can not stand to sit and watch the machine to make sure nothing goes wrong .on my doll dresses I hand sew more than I do on the machine.
thank you dear - you would have been a great one to have with us - to finish this project up. Hehehe!
UPDATE: I still have 45 more to stitch - I doubt I will get them done - but I sure will try.
Oh my, I wish I lived closer so I could give you a hand to finish them. They are beautiful, and surely will be appreciated by your son and his new wife. Take care. Hugs Lynn
oh my Lynn - I wished you were.
Terri is going to help - I called and she suggested I call some of the ladies that we go to embroidery club with and I did - a couple said they could help and Terri found a couple ladies from her town - so we are meeting at 9 AM to finish them up - if I really told you all the things that happeened today - you would think I was making it all up - but this gathering will make up for it - when all the baskets are made and ready for the wedding - then all I will have to do - is do my hair and get Rick and I dressed and up to the wedding with all the baskets of mints and love.
So glad you are getting help to finish them. Have a great time at the wedding. Please post pictures. You and Rick have a great weekend. Hugs Lynn
They sure are lovely.
Question: What exactly is the problem with the machine stitching?
Tip: Sew up the lace or other FSL before washing the wss away so the design is still a little firm.
The ulility stitch that sews straight for two zigs then straight for two is the stitch I use. Set for the right width and not so small that the lace still moves under the foot
I don't generally have any trouble with sewing up lace - it is just this design - it flutes out and is very hard to catch in just the right place - no matter what I tried - thanks for the tip - I am sure others will use it.
The baskets are gorgeous, Shirlene. I wish you good health and lots of patience. :)
Hugs, Lidia
Wow, Shirlene, these are precious! I hope you can finish them on time and still have a spare time to relax.
Hugs and love, Yoriko
Yorko, thank you so very much - your charm really topped them off - I still have 45 to stitch.
Waaauw shirlener, what a work. Know how you feel after I did a lot of small bags which I had to do some handwork too and you have much sorter time to make these all, but you will be SO PROUD on the day.
Wish you a super day and much happiness for the newly married.
Edith, thank you so very much - glad you got your project done - I still have 45 more to stitch. Hugs, Shirlene
Beautiful Shirlene, truly a labour of love, they will adore them and the guests will be in awe, Godspeed and love S*
These are beautiful! I understand your dilema..Not sure where you are ..But if you get in a pinch Alenes 6800 works very well and holds up wonderful...She also has an instant tacky that sets up fast..I know you want to stitch them all ..But if you have to this will ease the burden a bit..hope this helps..wish I could
Glue will now work with the edges of these little fluted baskets - but thanks for the idea. I have never used glue with this sort of lace work.
So beautiful...you are doing a great job.
If I lived near you I also would help you.
Hugs Joann
Joann, thank you dear - I have 45 more to stitch - if you lived near - I would let you help in a heartbeat.
They sure are pretty I hope they all appreciate your time but I'm sure youll be happy when all finished. Best Wishes.
Thanks - no one ever appreciate the time you put into a project - but I will be thrilled to share them. Best Wishes to you as well Jane. *4U, Shirlene
Shirlene, they are gorgeous. Sorry you have to sew them by hand. Take care, hugs Lynn
Shirlene, You certainly have taken a huge task, no wonder you are so quiet. If I could be there in 5 mins I would be there to help you. They are all beautiful. You will be relieved when you have finished.
Lyn, thanks - I sure appreciate knowing you would be here - if you could.
Goodness gracious. I hope they realize all the time, labor and love that went into these.
Wow these are georgous shirlene how many do you have to make and how long have you got to complete them...soozie
thanks - I have 80 to make and until Thursday night or Friday early afternoon.
Wow - quite the task - wish we were closer - I would love to be helping you.
Shirlene, they are beautiful!! So much work though - I hope you have lots of time to do it. When my daughter got married - I made chair ties to go around the backs of each of the chairs in the reception. I think I made 150 of them - lots of work but they turned out great. You will be proud of these!! Hugs, Laura*
OH Shirlene wish I was near you to help - but they are so beautiful - shame that you can´t sewing them together in sewing machine - but why not?
Thanks dear - I am not sure why the machine will not allow me to stitch them - but I ruined a couple trying - so it is hand stitching and I so wished you were here to help. LOL
They are lovely baskets and I understand your aggravation on stitching them together by hand. After one hundred wedding bells I'm sick of them but they are cute and I finally finished (I hope) them all.
Anita, thanks dear - did you have to hand stitch your wedding bells? Doing lots of one thing - is always hard - but I look at it - as it is sharing the love - for them - with them - for their guest - so I am not upset with working on them - just that I have to do so much hand work.
I started by hand and then I tried all my different feet and settings until I got one to work most of the time. lol Just finished the two garders one to keep and one to toss and everything I stitched today got tossed. Bobbin trouble.
Well I am glad to here you got yours figured out. I dislike bobbin trouble, too.
It may be a lot of work but how many times is your son getting married? They are going to make a huge hit. So pretty. Let me say if I was at the wedding I would really appreciate all the work that went into the baskets. Your son will be so happy. The place will look stunning. Suzanne BTW congrats mom!!
Suzanne, thanks so very much - I know that my son and my new DIL will love them - they have seen them - were very pleased with the work so far. It is a small wedding or I would have chosen something else - they just couldn't decide on what they wanted and waiting a long while - before they choose - but this hand stitching wasn't expected. Thanks!
Shirlene, when is the wedding?
They look stunning. Best of luck, I'm sure you will get through them. You are the "lace Queen" -
Just take short break inbetween and then you will see how fast you will get through it.
Hugs Yvonne
Yvonne, thanks - lol on the title - doesn't help much with hand stiching. I will follow your suggestions. THANKS! The Wedding is Friday.
Wow. Beautiful. My fear is that they won't appreciate your effort. Wonderful job!
Thanks dear - they were here the other night and seemed to be very pleased with them - when I showed them what I done so far. Maybe the guest will not - not sure.
WoW! These are beautiful and such a great undertaking but awesome from the heart! Trusting in your Angels to be with you and yours for such a wonderful occasion!
Thank you dear - I have been stitching these out - for the last couple weeks - wished I would have tried to stitch them together - rather than waiting to do that all at the last minute. I apprecaite the idea of the Angels - I could use their help. Hehehe!
The baskets are beautiful, but what a task you've set yourself!
Thanks Martine - it wasn't suppose to be this big of a task to begin with. Grrrrrrrrrr!
They are bearutiful, amazing gorgeous, etc.. What a pain to have to hand stitch. How many do you have to make. Hope you get them all done by the wedding. Then you can relax and enjoy one of the most important days in your family's life.
Thank you - I made over 80 of them - if I even get 60 done - I will be happy - but we will just wait and see. I am thrilled for my son - my DIL to-be is a wonderful lady.
The finished product is gorgeous, but I don't envy you the task!
thank you so very much Sue - wished I had several extra sets of hands now.
This looks amazing Shirlele, you appear to have set yourself with some task. How many do you have to make? I am currently wading through bunting for a wedding, it seemed like a simple idea at the time... is this what you thought too?
Caroline, thank you - it is a big task - much more now - I have to hand stitch - I thought it would be rather easy - to put them all together - but NOT now. I did think this would be a smimple idea. Hehehe! Good luck on your project and post - when you are finished.
The basket is from A Stitch A Half - the handle is from S-Embroidery and the charm on the mints is from Yoriko's My Gardened.
You are amazing... no wonder your presence here has been scarce! Hope to see more of you next week! Excellent work, I am sure your son and his new wife will just love this addition to their tables! Hugs!
Thanks Christine - this was a much bigger task than I expected - with the hand stitching - I hope I get it finished - could use a couple extra set of hands. Hehehe!
They look great Shirlene. What is the design that is stitched that is next to your scissors on the left hand side? Is it another sort of basket? Sure wish I could help...
Thanks christracey, I am not sure which picture you are referring to - I did a couple test stitch out of several basket and determined which would stitch the quickest and use lese thread - I had to combine some in on hooping - which too more thread but less work - but didn't give enough room for the right about of mints. Hehehe! I sure wished you could have helped, too.
I meant in the first picture here..it looks like it has hearts around it with a sort of hexagonal(sp?) bottom.Your reply got cut off...
That is a nutcup from A Stitch A Half - I combined the design in my editing program - so that I wouldn't have as much to stitch together - once I desolved the WSS. I haven't finished them up, yet.
