It sure is lovely cutwork - let us know what you come up with.
Dear Chris, looking at this I would use it as an Antimacassar (see link below). I would put a picot crochet edge to this something delicate to match the beautiful rose flowers. Love and blessings Chris
Thank you Chris. I think these pieces may have been for this purpose, especially after learning about the "old days"! I do know I do not want to put it in a drawer.
Lovely...you could add some heirloom type insertion lace on one edge and add the second panel to it...or add a linen fabric that matches with insertion lace on each side and add the other cutwork panel to the added middle panel with insertion lace...hope that makes sense...
I would sew ready made lace all around, the thicker type of lace!
These dresser scarves were popular in the 20's and 30's. I still have the one that my mother made, thank goodness, because we never attached any importance to it -- it was just something she did. I know better now. However, it did not have lace on the edges. Perhaps a dealer in laces & doilies could give you more information.
I think you can put some small lace outside the edge to finish up I love the cut work design.Maria
Beautiful piece of cutwork. Would be pretty to put a bright or pastel fabric underneath it. Could be used as a small pillow case or some of the other cutie ideas.
This looks nice. By being pre-made sounds like runner/table scarf. By the rolled hem a lot of times then you crochet edge to or sew lace on.
To make it a little wider and longer for a nice doily/table runner/dresser scarf try adding some wide flat lace around the outside edges. It is very pretty and with lace trim it would be a very pretty table or dresser accent.
