Off Topic so skip this if you only want to read craft posts.

On Monday my Avon lady, Lois, neighbour from three doors down, popped in to collect the Avon book and told me about the Biggest Morning Tea, breast cancer fund raiser, going to be held at the local Community Centre, organised by the sewing group there on Wednesday.
I didn't have a lot of time, but I managed to whip up Lyn's Apple Slice and off I went. (a very brave thing for me to do because I'm not good at mixing with strangers)
Anyway, I had a fabulous half a day there, meeting ladies of the group, buying lots of goodies from their stall and eating all the decadent, cream filled, iced and plain cakes. (took an allergy tablet and some Panadol (for the sugar overdose) when I came home)
None of the ladies does machine embroidery and it seems like their sewing class is more of a weekly morning tea, but many of them were interested when I told them about it. So, next week I am going to take the Diamond and give them a demonstration.
I'll add some photo's below but, other than the first one, which is my neighbour Lois on the right and Judy is the lady on the left, I'm afraid I can't remember many of their names. Still, I may join their Wednesday group, so they may become part of my world and I theirs.
The lady in the white slacks is another neighbour, Joan, from three doors down the other way. She is 80 years young and looked a million dollars in her hand crocheted cardigan. :-)
And the lady in the mob cap and old fashioned outfit is Thelma, what a hoot she was, lifting up her skirts to show off her bloomers. LOL!!!
They raised over $700.00 from raffles, the sales table and contributions.
Thanks for enjoying this little visit to a day out of my world.

I have a terrible time mixing with crowds of strangers. So when I learned that the local senior center was starting a quilting club, I hesitated...for almost a year. Then, I just happened to be there one day when they were meeting, and dropped by for a look. I was hooked when I found how very friendly and interesting these ladies were. Now I cannot wait for the club meetings to roll around. I bring embroidered things often, and get lots of visitors at my table. We meet, sew, donate to the community and just about everything else. I have a fantastic group of friends now. I wish for you an experience at least as good as I have had!! I hope you enjoy every last second of your new group!!

YOu are SOOO lucky. I would love to have ANY type of sewing group to meet with in my area (live in Southern New Jersey about an hour west of Atlantic City in a town called Weymouth -- talk about being "out in the sticks" !!!!) I enjoyed visiting with you via photos. Thank you for sharing and have a fabulous time on your next visit. Lois W.

It is truly wonderful to be able to share your love of crafts with others. Do you not have Country Womens Associations or YWCA, or even local school parents group.
You don't need to have kids to join in.
Hugs, Meg

Wow Sounds like fun and a very good fun raiser to boot! When my family came to visit and saw my machine they all wanted one too. They love their embroidered gifts I make.

Yes it might be really great. I'm taking my Uganda quilt to show them all next week too, it might just end up being another source for more quilts, wouldn't that be great?

You will be opening a whole new world to them by showing the machine embroidery. Next time should be a lot of fun for you.

Make new friends and keep the old, the first are silver and the second are gold. Enjoy your Wednesday mornings. I belong to a Tuesday group who meet up each week. G
