A friend has a Singer Futura, it sews well, but when she attaches embroidery module all the lights blink and won't stop. Took it to our local "Singer" store, (they are no longer affilated with Singer, just use the name) and he said it is a great boat anchor! She just purchased a Brother 770 embroidery only machine and is in tears! She brought it over for me to look at...the tension is all screwy, loops underneath (they included a paper to say what to do if that happened..like they anticipated the problem) but it isn't working properly and it is the most user unfriendly machine I have ever seen! The hoop is difficult to attach, the screen is not interactive once you have started the design, and it only came with 1 hoop! It is going back as soon as she can contact the dealer (came with a 30 day return free shipping). I love love love my Viking Diamond! Linda
The lights blinking means only a few things. The feed-dogs are not down or the small hoop is attached when you turn on the machine or the embroidery part is not "snapped" into place. If she still has the Singer there is an online support group that can "walk" her through the troubleshooting process. There is a HUGE learning curve to the Singer Futura but when you get it...they work.
help her with troubleshooting. The one who knows all is Jim. He is also often on their Facebook page. I hope something works for your friend soon.
I am sorry for all your problems. I have two Bernina embroidery machines and I am very happy with them. The service is fantastic and when you have a problem, they are always very willing, and able , to help you. I won't change my Berninas for anything else. Hope you can get rid of your lemon.***
I sure wish I had know about singer before I bought my singer futura quartet..Had it one week and went to the shop ..Still doesn't work..sews but wont embroider without constant broken needles and broken threads. The design flaw is that the thread gets caught on the inside..Hate it!.Just bought Brother 770.And have the SE 400..
I bought the singer because it does 6x10..never get it done..SO will stick to 5x7 for now..
Try posting on their FaceBook site. They will sometimes act quickly there. One thing...be polite. I would be interested in knowing what the repeated problem with your machine is. I have a Futura and only had problems with it when I used Singer needles. I had to take it in for bobbin housing replacement because of the Singer brand needle. I switched needle brands and haven't had any trouble since.
Sure wish I could post it to FaceBook. I would do anything to beat Singer up. Sure wish some of the Cuties comments would get to the media
I would only have Brother embroidery machines, I am on my 3rd one, and when I got rid of each of them, it was only to upgrade to another Brother.... just love them , and had no issued with any of them.
Thank you for the post! I* am sorry you are having such isues!
I am looking to buy a new machine and am saving up for a Viking Huskqvarna Design Topaz 20. If there are these type of issues with it I would want to know in advance.
So I feel you are doing others a service by letting us know of the problems you are having and getting others to share their issues as well.
Diane
I have had a singer xl6000 for almost 4 years now. It has been back to the factory 3 times. Back to the shop I bought it from several times. The automatic bobbin winder still don't work right. (but I am the only one who has had a problem with it)
Glad you have replied and so sorry to hear of your problems. I have to say that Singer machines are not what they were many years ago. There are more negative comments on Singer here than positive. Not sure what advice to offer you but someone from the States may
Thanks so much for coming back to share minnie.
That's absolutely dreadful of singer... I've never had that brand, was warned off them years ago, so not surprised, but they really should be held accountable.
Sorry for Delay....I own a Singer Futura Embrodery Machine with serious mechanical problems. It is 6 months old and has more miles on it via UPS than I have used for embrodering. It has been repaired 4 times for the same problem. Singers warranty states it will ONLY repair the unit and will not REPLACE it. When warranty runs out your SOL. Better Business Bureau and Consumer affairs cannot make them budge to replace the LEMON. So BUYER BEWARE. make sure whatever machine you purchase READ the warranty. Hopefully you you pass this on to anyone looking for a machine and DO NOT buy ANY Singer. Warranty is for ALL machines they manufacture.
So sorry for you. I absolutely loathe Singer machines. Had one many years ago and never ever got the tension right despite many people trying to fix it.Do you not have a website where you can post positive and negative comments about companies that you deal with. We have one in South Africa that contacts the company concerned and asks for an explanation on line.
deal with. We have one here in South Africa that contacts the Company and asks for an explanation. I think that it sometimes shames them into helping ?
Absolutely you can post your thoughts...this is how the Cute community stays in touch and informed and we're all entitled to our own opinions...Please let us know your thoughts!....and welcome to Cute!
I wonder why minnie hasn't come back to let us know which machine she is unhappy with...it's been 2 days now since she posted.
Please come back minnie & welcome to cute !
Minnie79 by now you have us all wondering what the machine is and what is wrong with it. Look forward to hearing more
My first guess would have been a Singer too! I am not impressed with Singer and I won't ever buy another product from them. Let's see: first the hand wheel broke, had to go into shop (under warranty); then the timing went and Singer wanted to charge $200-$300 to fix it, thanks to Jim's manual I was able to fix it myself and it only cost me $20.00; NOW the feed dogs won't work. I can embroider but if I want to sew, forget it - the feed dogs won't switch over. I for one will not recommend a Singer, in fact I will try and talk people out of getting one - ANYTHING has to be better than a Singer. :)
Not sure what is wrong. I haven't used any spray glue so don't think that is it. I bought Jim's manual and as soon as I get some time I'm going to try to figure it out - if not I'll be going to the yahoo group and bugging Jim again. lol
By all means, give us the low-down so we can all be well informed.
Knowledge is power, so please make us all more powerful.
And welcome to the Cute Family. Hugs n roses, Meganne
Welcome to CUTE! Now sit back and vent a while, it'll make you feel so much better. Hugs
I wonder ? Is it a Singer?
Bev in Texas
I had problems with my XL-5000. Took it in about 2-3 times. One day, I found a tiny screw loose near the bobbin case. Technition could not find where it went. Machine sews wonderful now. Must have been dropped in there at the factory.
Post away. Sometimes you just have to vent when a product doesn't live up to expectations.
Welcome to Cute. It's always interesting to have information on somebody else's embroidery machine because another Cutie may have the same machine and has solved your problems (and can help you) or is considering buying the same machine so any info is useful. Hugs, Lidia
Minnie, Welcome to "cute". I'm sure that it will be looked at and Hope that someone will be able to give you feedback as well. Hugs Yvonne

I think people would appreciate information from an actual user. Maybe someone here can help you with your problems too.
