Welcome, Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. I have 2 PFaff the 2124 and the sensation that came out in 2011. I love both of them.Go to a dealer near you and they should be able to help you out. If I have any problems they help me right away.
Try using a 'Metallic' needle. My Pfaff suffered a lot like yours, but the larger hole in the metallic needles did seem to help. Also when I first started, I used to hoop the fabric drum tight, and this turned out to be just too tight. Now I use a 505 temporary spray adhesive much of the time. Do not inferior brands, will gum up the needle. Welcome.
Sorry it took me so long. I just found my manual. My troubleshooting part says for Needle Thread breaking- 1. Did you insert the needle properly? 2. Did you insert a wrong needle? 3. Is the needle bent or blunt? 4. Did you thread the machine properly? 5. Is the needle to small for the thread? 6. Are you using poor thread with slubs or thread which has become dry after overlong storage.
For bobbin thread breaks is says only - 1. Did you insert the bobbin properly.
Also be sure to look on the pages in your manual that Oaro suggested. If you check all this and it still is breaking the thread, then you definitely need to talk to a dealer/repair man. If you can't talk to your, let us know and we can recommend ours. Let us know how it goes.
i do have the Pfaff 4.0 you have to put the thread like water fall check you Owners manual PAGE 2:4 2;5
Sorry you are having trouble but these machines can be temperamental they don't like certain treads, you have been given lots of advise the dealer seems the next move.
Hi and Welcome PookieSue. I haev a Janome Memory Craft 350 E and I have only been doing machine emb for 2 yrs now but when it happens to me I back off of my top thread tension a bit. It happes to me most when I use Metro Thread or Rayon Thread. My machines Fav thread seems to be Robinson Anton but maybe that is because that is what I first started with LOL!

PS I would also take ti right back to my dealer. Did they offer oyu any kind of class on it when you bought it. Everyone around here offers them free mos ttimes when you buy your machine from them.
Pookie, glad you too my advise about taking problem to the community, you've gooten a lot of good answers too. "WELCOME" to Cute.
I just recently bought a brand new machine and had the same problem. I was very frustrated. End result was that some thread was caught in the uptake, apparently when they tested the machine. Once they cleaned that out my machine has been very happily stitching. Go back to where you bought the machine and let them help you.
I have an older Pfaff 7570 and when I first got it, I had the same problem and found out, I wasn't lifting the pressure foot when I changed threads. Also I was threading the bobbin wrong. I have had my machine for over 15 years and it still works like a charm.
I also have a Pfaff, but it is a different model. I occasional have problems, but not like what you are having. Usually it is an old spool of thread or I need to clean all the lint out. If you bought your machine new the place that you bought it from should give you some classes on the use of the machine. If it is not new they should still be willing to look at it with you, even if it costs a little bit. Did you get a manual with it? Look in the trouble shooting area and see what it says. I will look in my book and get back with you, it might give us dome idea. Where do you live - I live in KS. You can leave me a PM if you do not want to put it here.
By the way - welcome to the cuties. You will love it here. They have great info and a wealth of knowledge. You come to the right place to ask your questions. I'll get back to you.
I would be right back down at my dealers with the machine ( and a sweet attitude) and have them sew with you to see what the problem is. I wouldn't let it go too long so they think you did something to it. If you are a good customer they should want to do this for you.
Hi, I have a brother innovis, It keeps telling me the theard is snapped and it is not, but this only happens if I am useing polly cotton, it is ok with rayon, I thought it may be a senser on the machine,I get over the problem by holding the cotton as it starts sewing then it is ok after a few times. I am getting it looked at as soon as pos. Hugs Pam.
Hello Pookie Sue. I have a PFAFF Creative 2.0. I had my machine more than 2 years now. Recently I had the same problem where the thread catch somewhere inside the tension and fray and finally break. I usally use a spray of air and rethread it and it works until next time !!? I am planning to get it check up but the shop where I leave it is not very rapid and I am planning to participate in a Jubile street market in June. So it will wait !
I hope it helps you, good luck. Cathie
Another thing to check is when threading it, keep a little tension on the first 3 spots you thread as it may not always be in the way it should.
Hi, and welcome. You have been given some good advice I hope it helps. Good luck and hope you get sorted soon. Hugs Christine, Johannesburg
I took several things into consideration and changed the bobbin and the needle and I got through my first pattern tonight. I did have one thread fray and ball up. It was a Madeira. Obviously Pfaff prefers Robinson-Anton because my machine came with 5 spools of their thread. Thank you all for your help.
Old thread (usually purchased old) or a "bad" spool will do that as well. I had one large new black spool that would break/janb/fray and make me crazy! I am glad you made it through tonight.
I know that is discouraging no matter what machine it happens on. I am sure you have done these things (but just in case) -- change the needle even if it is a new one -- use a different spool it is best to try a different brand of thread -- double check the bobbin thread path, tension, and which way clockwise or counter... good luck! I hope someone has better advice for you.
Thank you all - changing the needle tonight and see if that helps. I tried several different brands of thread and sometimes they would sew beautifully and then all of a sudden another thread ball all frayed.
