I'm a hoarder!! I have more designs than I know what to do with and have 2 little boys to sew for now. Granted they are both under 2yrs (16 mo and 2 mo) and have no clue what mommy is doing. The 16 month old loves the stuffies and puppets so I have been collecting those for a while.
Hoarder!!! Big Time!!! Guilty as Charged!!!!
I spend many happy hours viewing, planning and sometimes buying designs that I just know I will use 'One Day' if I live long enough. To fill one's mind with beauty each morning is a grand way to begin the day. I'm getting more selective about freebies these days and have come to know my favourite digitisers from whom I'm happy to purchase what appeals to me rather than from need. Also my choices change as my largish family grows and so I keep on downloading designs to suit the different ages, stages and personalities. These days my pocket money goes on sets or designs that I just love and when the time comes to choose just the right design I will always find it in my collection... hopefully... but occasionally I have to go hunting to buy what I really want and that's when I buy for a specific project. Otherwise my stash is full of 'One Day' designs and I feel very satisfied with it.
Just one negative here..... I see a design and a project invades my Senior Mind...... I have to download that design! Satisfied, I gravitate to the next design. Same thing happens - until I have so many designs to unzip each day that projects fly out the window and my time is taken up at the computer, downloading and unzipping that my machine remains waiting and wilting from disuse. I do so admire those stitchers who can churn out their projects for our enjoyment and there I go again...... sitting here enjoying the project photos and not actually doing any stitching myself!!!!!

I love sales, I don't think I would pay full price, I am a font hoarder and still feel I don't have enough. Like most when you start you seem to download every freebie out there, but learn all designs are not created equal. I have my favorite sites and wait until they have a sale. But if I was to confess yes I am a hoarder, you just never know what you are going to need that day. Or like Sheilara I haven't thought of the project yet. It's like quilting you have to have a stash .
I try to wait until they are on sale...I will buy just because I like the collection...and not know when I will get around to using them..Most of the time, I don't have a specific project for them...yet!
When you first begin collecting designs you will download a LOT but eventually it will slow down..... NOT. I have so many designs but mostly freebies. When I was in Go Go mode I bought many FSL designs but on sale and when I'm wanting a design I only have to go through my stash to get ideas!! LOL good luck!
I usually buy when my GC ask for something to be embroidered. I used to collect all the freebies I could but have stopped that now. I love the sales and have just bought some more fonts. Interesting question. Thank you. Sarah.
Hoarder....with big plans when I retire. Which looks like it won't be until I'm at least 70.
Muffy :)
I don't call it hoarding...... I am collecting patterns for projects I have not thought of yet.... when I get just the right one, then the pieces will fall into place and I will have a completed project. I do the same thing with fabric. I have astonished my mother with how patient I am to find just the right fabric to finish a project.... Patterns don't take up the same amount of space. I told my knitting group that I plan to live long enough to use all of my yarn, fabric and patterns.
I am with you on all counts! I hope to use all my fabric thread and even more stabilizer!
I think it's one of the better collectables... it's fun and doesn't take up any house space or need dusting...lol - perfect
I'm a hoarder of designs, fabric, sewing notions, and patterns. LOL
I have a lot of designs and sometimes when I go to do something I can't find quite what I want. I like a good variety and as with my fabric (the two go hand in hand) I also get it when on sale as I don't really need any more, but may need some later and would regret not having gotten them.
Well my Son always says to me Mom when are you going to use all the designs that you have.
Does that mean I am addicted to buying and digitising designs.
My reply, "you never know, when I might need them"
Hugs Yvonne
In the beginning I collected freebies then I discovered that if you wait for the right time you can get the most beautiful designs at a good price and ended up to very very selectively download freebies. I have lots and lots of designs most not yet stitched out but they are available. once I retire I will have more time with those designs. Otherwise my daughter will one day have the benefit of it.
Same here!!! I don't think it will be my daughter but my granddaughter enjoying my machines and designs...****
I do buy some things that I don't have a project in mind right away but that I like. I try to only buy designs when they are on sale (same for a membership - wait for it to go on sale). Like many others, I have more designs than time!
I'm a hoarder for the most part... always think that I just might need that one. Then when I start on a project I never seem to have what I'm after...lol
So much fun collecting though. kitty
I have bought some designs 'cos I was having a project on my mind at that time. some of them I have used and so the project was finished. Other designs are still waiting to get sewed.
I just need more time...to sew ofcourse :-)
When I buy I usually have some sort of project in my mind that I will be using the designs for. I have bought many but have never completed all the "mind" projects. Hugs, Mary
I do hoard and usually buy when there is a sale. I will never, in this lifetime, use all of them. Just enjoy having them "on call"
I think that we all are addicted to designs, no this is not a joke, I really think we are, we buy some designs just because they are pretty not knowing if will ever use them...*****
I have bought many, more than I will ever use but only what I like, I see,I plan, then never execute..
I tend to buy what I like. I guess you could say I am a mini hoarder as I don't buy a lot. I like to think I will use them some day lol
I have been rather horrified over the weekend to find I am sitting on many bought but unstitched designs. I buy when on offer (I dont go mad, only designs I like) The positive is that they dont take up space to keep
