Contratulations! And if you ever find yourself weak, just come here and there will be Cuties to help you through it! It will be worth every bit of struggle you go through! Hugs, Carol
Congratulations! I quit 7 years ago and I STILL get cravings! Hang in there, it's so worth it! Hugs,
Hang in there Alice! My husband quit 3 years ago and says he rarely has a craving that he can not ignore now. It takes time and determination but you can do it! In as short as 3 months after he quit his breathing got better and snoring got to be less. His sinuses used to rattle when he breathed, not any more. My husband has had that same dreams, lol! He wakes up so angry with himself until he realizes it was just a dream.
Thats ok, keep plugging along, one day at a time and you will be fine. Have you joined a support team? QuitforLife.com is a great group.
Update. Yes I am still not smoking, the cravings were getting less and less, but today they are back again. I have weird dreams that I was smoking again last night and in the dream I was really annoyed with myself because I had to start over. But I woke up very relieved that it was just a dream.
That will continue. I used to have dreams smoking and trying to convince others that I am not hooked. I am so glad to hear that you still not smoking. I am so proud of you because I know how hard it is.
Congratulations Alice. I struggled with it for years and finally quit in 2009. I didn't stop craving one until early in 2011. The longer the time, the less craving I had. Keep it up. You can do it.
Hi Alice - just wondered how you were doing? Hope you are still not smoking. Hugs Sarah.
How wonderful! That is quite an achievement. I wish my husband would quit. He keeps saying he is going to, but.... Maybe someday.
Huggles for you! Hubby quit over 3 years ago. He said that his best advise was that all though you are not smoking you will always be a smoker that chooses not to smoke. You will have times when you will think...this is a time when I would have had a cig. just move past it. Congrats and Best wishes.
i AM SO PROUD OF YOU i QUIT ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO JUST LAYED THEM DOWN AND SAID NO MORE AND i HAVE NOT HAD ANOTHER ONE bUT i DO HAVE COPD FROM SMOKING
I am soooo proud of you! Please think long and hard before you ever light up another one! I spent many yrs looking after my Mom and it was not a pretty picture!! She had such a terrible time just trying to breath for many yrs. Didn't I read somewhere that you were a nurse???? If so, you know what we all went through. Many blessings, Hugs, Linda
Hi Alice, been wondering where you've been. So glad you have kicked this habit.
Alice, that is incredible news! I am truly proud of you :-) Hugs, Jan
Great job!!! It's tough and you got through the toughest part. Will be two years in July since I quit and am so glad I did. Still think about it, but am determined it will only be thinking, never doing again. Hope the same for you!
Congratulations! I know exactly what you are going through. This is a huge battle. I quite over 30 years ago. Keep up the good work. Hugs & Stitches

i am so happy for you. i have not smoked since nov. this was the hardest thing to do. i'm so proud of you.
Comgratulations, keep going and promise your self a small treat every month to keep your self motivated. At the end of 1 year and ever year after that, buy yourself a big present. That is what keeps me going. I used to buy jewellery but I only have so many fingers. This year I bought a UV Gel Polish Kit as, next to embroidery, nail polishes are my other addiction. Four years now and I really lookforward to my yearly present, and my husband never says a word about how much I spend because it is way cheaper than continuing smoking. Keep up the good work. Leah
Congrats on your great willpower! I wish I had it. I've tried several times. I'll give it a try again. One of these times it will stick!
Meri
Congratulations! That's a big accomplishment. I'm proud of you.
Good for you!!!! I'm a quitter too...but that was many years ago when cigs were 40 cents a pack!! but oh my I couldn't afford them then and I can't imagine now. On the bright side...think how many spools of emb. thread and designs you can buy with that money!! Whooo hooo! Whenever you crave a cig...reach for a spool!!
Congratulations Alice! You are an inspiration! Hugs, Yoriko
Totally inspirational! I was just thinking of you! So glad to hear your progress - is there 1 or more things that helped you get over the hump?

Marcelle
I am so proud of you! You've accomplished a great thing! Reward yourself in some non-smoking way--maybe spend a bit of the money you've saved on some awesome thread or fabric or something! You deserve it. Way to go.
wow I'm so proud of you,I know just how hard it is,I'm a smoker too, been trying to stop for forever, regards lesley
Lesley the trick is one day at at time. I could not set a quit date because that just made my anxiety build up so I sort of snuck up on it. I decided to put of my morning smoke for as long as I could I still have not had it 10 days later. I am still getting cravings but that is not the same as the crazy withdrawal, that only last for 3 days.

I am so proud of you as it is so addicting and difficult to do. Found this article and you just made yourself healthier. Copied and pasted: Here’s a timeline about some of the more immediate effects of quitting smoking and how they will affect your body right now.

In 72 hours your bronchial tubes will relax, and your energy levels will increase.
In 2 weeks your circulation will increase, and it will continue to improve for the next 10 weeks.
In 3 to 9 months coughing, wheezing, and breathing problems will dissipate as your lung capacity improves by 10%.
In 1 year your risk of having a heart attack will have dropped by half.
