Are these done on linen or what? Your wing needle holes look beautiful! These are so pretty.
I loved my Janome 8000!!!! I still have her...she's the best!
These are very pretty.
I have heard that a few 8000's have died. They were a great machine though. Thanks
Beautiful work love your yellow choice on these also.
Both are very lovely. Have one question, did you use a single or double wing needle???? Thanks, Shirley
They are both lovely. I like how you added the crochet to the edge. I can see how you use the wing needle holes to attach the crochet, but I do have a question - at what point do you cut away the rest of the excess material? Is it done before you add the crochet or after? Also, what type of crochet stitch did you use? It looks a bit like shell stitch to me, but I cannot enlarge the photo enough to see it clearly. Thanks for sharing your lovely creation. I look forward to seeing more of your UFOs!
Luckily I have notes on these as I used to teach classes at the sewing store where I worked. (Cut away before doing the crochet) Trim back appox. 0.25mm and roll excess fabric under as 1st row of double crochet is worked. The edges are types of shell stitches. I find patterns I like in books and go from there. Thanks Shirley
Very nice work Shirley - I really like the pale yellows in this set.
Very pretty. I have seen this done but don't quite know how? I know you use a wing needle but what stitch? Is it just a zig zag stitch?
No it's not just a zigzag. Looking back through my notes I made these edges using the Janome 9000 machine not the 8000, and it was stitch number 149 W 3.5 - L 2.5 and size 120 wing needle. I stiffened the fabric first with Sew Stable.
I like the wing needle for edgings, no guessing the distance between the crochet stitches in the first round. Great UFO's. What fabric did you use, a fine linen?
It looks like a menium cotton fabric to me. Not much good when it comes to what is what LOL.
