Can we PLEASE get back to the family, friendly environment I looked forward to everyday? I NEED the peace and comfort found among friends.

This site should be a place to visit away from backstabbing and bickering. Outrageous assertions and ambiguity coupled with personal interpretations of laws and copyrights are making this place untenable. This site was a wonderful place to visit to get away from the contention I regularly encounter with people who fail to follow the laws. Some things have been said and other things have been implied. No public castigation should take place ESPECIALLY after reports that apologies were given and accepted. There is nothing wrong with a FRIENDLY reminder for people to read the copyright and follow it. It is a great idea to repost the default copyright. However, the personal interpretations of the copyright laws are counterproductive and in some cases have been erroneous. Additionally, vicious attacks should have been limited to private messages – IF -- they needed to be nasty at all.
NOTE: Unless you are a licensed international attorney, you should NOT be interpreting the copyright laws for others.
Please let this site return to a harmonious place to visit.

Yes, we all need some love and peacfulness in our lives. As humans, we tend to ruffle our feathers now and again. I hope we can all be back in harmony and love. All the best to all and lots of hugs and flowers to everyone.******

5-26-12 * Lord this day and each to come, I call forth your PEACE to flow on Cute Embroidery as never before! I bind up all spirits of confusion/warring/fighting/backbitting/hurt/pain/etc and I call forth the fruits of the spirit to replace thenm! Lord YOU said, where there is unity, there is strength. Lord strengthen us to be overcomers of ALL things that come to shake our very foundations. Lord I ask that you repair every wounded spirit and hurting spirit. Allow us to be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. Lord we thank you for allowing our paths to cross. The friends we have met and the sewing/embroider gifts you have granted upon our lives. Lord when I think of ALL your goodness, it over takes me. When I look at all the freebies that I could not afford that you allowed gifted digitizers to give to me, I THANK YOU! For all the advice/help I received from other CUTIES, I THANK YOU! Lord sometimes you allow trouble to make us closer...I TELL YOU THANK YOU!!!

Every spirit that comes against this prayer I sent to the abyss to be chained and bound until judgement day. SATAN you are a LIAR and the FATHER OF LIES...PEACE SHALL BE UNTO CUTE EMBROIDERY!!! In JESUS NAME it is so, AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

***Lord please let me get my sewing mojo back :)

Could someone point me to the 'official embroidery copyright' information? I read and read and non of it makes sense. So I would really appreciate....The TRUTH and not the interpenetration of what I've read from different cuties and or digitizers. The more I read the more confused I get.

This silliness comes up over and over and has never really been settled...by anyone.
Thank you so much.

You are right about it never being settled. It is a fruitless and unpleasant exercise when all the majority want to do is enjoy their hobby.

Maybe I don't want to be here after all. Thought this only went on on SF.

yeah, I think it's time out in the corner for some people. This ranting is very disturbing. I'm going to take my ball and go home!

sewist1 by sewist1 26 May 2012

Awesome1 don't go - the majority of cuties are not like that and only want to enjoy and share their embroidery hobby and projects.

I will respond to this ONE time. I am not the only one to hope this issue dies quickly!
Most of us want to get back to the giving of flowers and hugs.
I case this is too long to read…I will not reply on this issue publicly after this post.
More than one thing happened here recently. More than one person has posted a rant. ALL of those things SHOULD have been handled in a Private message. The only thing the rest of the group needed was a kind reminder to read the copyright and posting it word-for-word was a great way to do that.
I am NOT here to fight. I will remind those who claim legal background -- unless you are a licensed international attorney, you are breaking the law by interpreting (this means expounding on the written words within) the copyright.
Sorry Bev and any others who are lost, I cannot explain all that has taken place. I can say that some had hurt feelings. Some are looking for a fight. Some are totally LOST because this community should be a place of refuge from the storm. If you want more information PM me. I will not be able to give you legal advice but I will help if I can. I posted a link that has regular language to explain the embroidery design copyright. I hope this helps.
In my posts I was looking for the written information some were using as if it actually existed. Nowhere on this site did I see the information being given to the rest of the group by more than one person. I hope you can see MANY people were confused and some were unnecessarily frightened by this and I was trying to bring that – gently -- to your attention. Because of the way some had expounded, others were afraid resizing or changing colors or combining designs would violate copyright laws. I tried to bring that to the attention of those causing the confusion. I know and understand copyright laws. I started working in a law office more than 20 years ago. I know better than to interpret legal documents for others. I merely wanted written rules for THIS SITE posted for all to see. The extra ones so many seem to know about but can’t be found anywhere except in a rant.
I am glad you have camaraderie amongst the digitizers. I hope that extends to the rest of the Cuties.
To those who do not want their designs altered at all – Please put that in writing every time you give or sell a design. That way we all have the ability to read your explicit wishes in addition to the legal copyright on your work.

I want to publicly state how impressed I am with the way some of those involved in this mess have carried themselves. They have refused the bait offered by those who wish to fight. They have publically apologized where necessary. .
I do recognize the right to express feelings. However, public castigation is unwarranted.
I will not reply here…so bash away at me if you must in this public forum or rant at me via a PM if you have to… I want this issue to end!
With that said I will now go back to gleaning from this site all that is good and right with the world.

Thank you all for your gifts of talents, flowers, and hugs.

Thankyou for saying what you have. I am so with you. I have given away many free designs that I have created and digitize for the last three years. And am proud when some one changes up one of my designs to suit their self. I did this to inspire others, not to fight like they have lately. That is the main reason why I don't give designs like I use to nor comment unless I see something wrong like recently. We are a family here whom need to do just as you mention, get over it.

Tabberone is not a lawyer!
How much different is what he says to what Megs and I have said?
Copyright Law you may not:

Make copies of the digital embroidery software to either sell or give away
Post a copy of the digital embroidery software on the internet for others to use
Modify the digital embroidery software and sell it as your own

Under Copyright Law you may:

Make a copy of the digital embroidery pattern for your personal use
Make more than one end product for personal use or for sale from the digital embroidery software

Besides which, you couldn't even read my post without adding your own interpretation to it.
NOWHERE did I mention, colour changing or resizing, designs!
COMMON SENSE should tell you that you can use your own choice of colours.
As for resizing, it is common KNOWLEDGE, that experienced digitisers will advise you NOT to resize their designs, they do it for a very good reason that, unless you understand digitising, you wouldn't have a clue about and I can not bother to explain to someone, who has already shown, will add her own interpretation to my words anyway.

Also, it is my right to withhold the name of the person who wanted to upload and share one of my designs, she had altered. It is also my right, as a member of this community, to remind others that copyright laws exist for the protection of those whose work you want to bastardise then display publicly.
If you can't see how this could openly hurt their reputation then you have never had anyone do it to you.
This is NOT the first time someone has thought they could make variations to one of my designs and want to then share it in DBC.
So THIS TIME I decided it was time to let everyone know that it just is NOT acceptable.

Furthermore, it had nothing what-so-ever to do with Vicki or Carolyn, I didn't even know about that issue until Vicki wrote to me.
Most digitisers here support each other and help each other, because we each understand what it takes to be a digitiser.

Thorny issues like thorny crowns will be debated for ever, each person having their own position. I don't read posts that have no appeal for me and respect that other have the right to voice their opinions. I would like to enjoy my visits here and have often asked for help or a hug, which has been freely given. The hurt when one of your "sew babies" is altered can be piercing.. on the other hand - pride in a job so well done in your own eyes that you wish to share it with friends, is the greatest feeling. If need be, let the law do the rest in closed court. I am amazed each day at the talent and generosity to be found here, yet I hesitate to share my work with you, I don't want to tread on a landmine. BUT I am very vocal in saying THANKS to those that share their work with us, designs and their applications. And thanks for this site, and in the words of Forrest Gump...that's all I have to say about that!!
