Not embroidery but sort of sewing/patchwork.

We've just sent DHDon's big recliner chair off to a new home in readiness for an electric lift chair to take its place. The removalist man was a big, burly, bearded bloke and, as he folded up DHDon's birthday quilt prior to taking the big recliner, he had this story to tell........

On the internet the other day he found a crafter who had made a huge long-coated hoodie from old sweaters. I think she might have found the sweaters in a second-hand shop. She had cut them up and patched the different pieces together and even the arms of the old sweaters had been cut through about four times and patched together in different orders. He showed me how the coat sleeves became huge 'wings' when the arms were held out. The removalist was so impressed with the workmanship in that large garment that he had to share his excitement and wonder at the value of such a project if worked out on hourly rates.

If anyone here has also found this internet site could you please share it with us. I'd love to see the coat, although from the description I was given I have a fairly good idea what it looks like.

No embroidery, as I have already stated, but if anyone did make a coat similar to this one, a little bit of embroidery would add a touch of class.

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend and, for the US members, do something special on Memorial Day.

Oh, I could!!! When the temperature drops below 25C I head straight for my pure wool undies and start to shiver. The cold and I are arch enemies... and here comes another winter!!! Alma.

There are brilliant ideas here, Meganne.
I particularly like the pillow/cushion ideas. Sitting on a knitted cushion is heaven - one made from the body of a jumper is quicker and better. Alma.

How is Don Alma? I haven't heard from you for a while but I knew you would be busy as well as worried, and I didn't want to bother you.

I was praying everything would go well, so I hope it is GREAT news.
Hugs and much love, Meg

My Goodness!!! it's now very late and the children - our middle-aged children, the grand-chlldren and the great-grand-children - have now gone home.
Tomorrow I've promised myself to spend a long happy relaxed time recharging my battery and looking at the links.

Thankyou, Everyone, so much for posting the messages.

Even me "sew-dummie" are tempted to buy the pdf and give it a try and sew such a wonderful coat. Have more than enough old clothes to recycle ;o) just send it to my BBF who can sew much better *lol*
Greetings, Bettina

That's it!!! That's the picture my big, burly, bearded removalist told me about. He's really a craft person at heart. Isn't that coat wonderful!! Alma.

It is as if you were reading my mind. I have a cape type garment in mind that would do something like that. I am on the look out! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
