Help! I went to do a test piece and the bottom is very bulky - like there is a ton of thread at the back. I changed bobbin thread and the needle and that only makes a little difference. What else can I try?

It's the lettering in my program that I'm using.

Are you using bobbin thread?

I tried both regular thread and bobbin thread.

Try to make the embroidery less dense by changing the type of stitch which you are embroidering in to a larger stitch length or a different stitch type(i.e. from satin to step stich) I hope this helps somewhat.***

yup - a couple have mentioned the denseness and now I think about it after seeing the suggestion, that sounds like what it is. Thanks.

You need to lower the density of your letters. You are stitching one stitch on another....In lettering, the density should be lower than for regular designs.

That sounds like what it might be - thanks.

If you've re-threaded the machine on top and at the bobbin and also if you changed your needle make sure it's not in backwards. Sounds silly but it can happen. If that doesn't solve the problem it could be out of time. Hope one of these ideas help if not you may have to take it to your service man.

Now that I think about it, I think that it's very dense. Thanks.

Sounds silly but rethread you machine both top and bottom, making sure you get the thread tight in the guides.

Perhaps you need a heavier stablizer.

It's on jean material which I have done a lot on with no problem. (haven't done lettering though)

Have you verify the tension?
Is it the same with another design?
Sometimes letters are difficult to embroider.

I tried changing the tension.
