I finally called Pay Pal and they said the problem was lag it. It happens sometime when lots is going on you account. They want your photo and ssn and bill payment ;So they know it's you. The Federal is now doing this. To make sure you are you. So it's not a scam. love JoAnn
do not answer an e-mail from Pay Pal. It may not be from them. Instead go paypal.com and log in and go to your account. they don't need your SS.
I use PayPal often and have not had any problems. Best you do as katydid says. Pay Pal tell you that you should always go into your account through their site only.
Paypal is the only thing that I use and I have never, ever had problems with them. I do not know what I would do without them. In fact, if a website does NOT have Paypal - then I do not buy from them. There are two fabric websites that I will use my credit card on but apart from them - no ways !!! I have never had strange mail either.
I just received an email supposedly from pay pal.Sent it to spoof@paypal.com,it was a spammer trying to get into my account.Don't click onto any links in the email.
Seems you already have your answer. Paypal never sends emails asking for account information so trust your gut and forward it to paypal. They will send you an email thanking you if it's not a legit email.

Last year I had trouble with paypal on ebay, when I went to login to ebay, another page came up wanting to know details of things which you would never be asked by the genuine paypal. It took a few weeks for this to go away even though I sent the details to ebay.
I agree with Marcelle...had several requests from "PayPal" that I forwarded and all of them were bogus Spoofs!! PayPal never sends these requests. If you ever get anything that looks odd...It is...listen to that inner voice...e-mail it to the spoof Paypal site and they will check it out and let you know what's up. Never answer these requests!
I have never had any problems with paypal, i rarely by online if i can't use it
Sounds like what they call a 'spoof' email. Always forward them to spoof@paypal.com. Paypal is really on top of people that do this so the sooner you let them know the quicker they get that particular person stopped. Paypal will always respond to your forwarded email to let you know what they found.
Paypal rarely sends out emails except receipts and such. ALWAYS check your Paypal account by logging in directly. Don't click on any links that are sent to you appearing to be from Paypal.
There are a lot of these now appearing to be from AT&T as well requesting to verify your email and password.
Everyone please be careful and protect your computers. Lots of mischief out there these days.

I've had no end of trouble with Paypal. In fact, my bank asked me to agree to not use them anymore because I've had so many problems with identity theft and credit card theft for what ever reason. My daughter has had problems too, with Paypal withdrawing too much for payments, and overdrawing her account. We don't use it now.
I've had similar emails, (2 so far) but telling that my purchase of $79 was approved, even though I hadn't made any such purchase.
and if I wanted to check it to 'click here' and provide my information and they would ....etc etc.
I checked my account first instead to make sure it was ok. No money had been withdrawn.
So yes it was a total scam., but it looked real.
A telltale give away is usually the spelling. Mine had the word believe spelt 'belive'
Never click on anything that comes in an email.
Contact paypal direct if you're confused.
Report it to Paypal so they will look into it for you. I had an email 2 years ago from a hacker using the paypal logo and everything. I logged into my paypal account and reported it right from there. Don't respond to anything sent to you.
Yes I too have had it for years. DO NOT answer any questions sent to you ion an email, it is not them asking for information. I had one of those and I contacted them and sent it to them so they can look for the people who are trying to scam people.
I have had pay pal since the beginning of their existence and have never, never, never had a problem with them. Was it a "spam" that maybe you've received?
Hugs..Carol
